Couldn't be more perfect!
We were looking for a place to just relax and de-stress, and this home exceeded all expectations. It's a beautiful, well-built log home with a magnificent view over Tor Bay. You won't see or hear anyone for miles around. We walked along the rocky shore at high and low tides, listened to seals and enjoyed the cool breezes from the front porch. We cooked our meals on the grille and smoker, and slept like babes on the large, comfortable beds. The town of Canso - 30 minutes away - has a nice grocery/hardware store, a bank, gas station and pharmacy - everything we needed. People there were super friendly. Sherbrooke Village was a nice day-trip. We bought a box of 100 oysters from an oyster company nearby in Charles River. Cape Breton was a nice two-day trip, though the scenery along Tor Bay was almost as beautiful, without all the driving. Mostly we just hung out, read, and watched the water. Andreas was available and helpful anytime by email.
Just what we were looking for......
We had an amazing time secluded from all other distractions! We were looking for a place where we could unplugged just reading, relaxing and having fun with the family. We felt the price was fair and the cabins, although not new were kept clean and comfortable, with lots of accessories to choose from and make our week's stay enjoyable. The driveway in was quite far and rocky and we were about 45 min. from the nearest store, so it could feel uneasy if you are not comfortable with being close to emergency services, and you do have to plan things in advance to do as much as possible while you are out. There also was a mild bug issue (ants and flying ants), but it wasn't overwhelming and did not squelch our enthusiasm or fun. The close ocean beach is quite rocky and not cozy for sitting out, but our kids had an awesome time crabbing, star fishing and collecting shells. All in all, we were very pleased with the accommodations and would certainly rate it a 4.5 out of 5! ALSO: The owners were very easy to work with in arranging this property and answered lots of questions with a very quick response time. If you haven't been to that part of Nova Scotia, it's certainly worth the trip!
