Small and peaceful
It was nice to get away with that said. I guess I'm pretty picky a few things that I think people would enjoy. The entire back was a construction zone messy hammock on the ground boards, trash just a mess. The Keurig coffee pot which I'm not a fan of takes for ever and leaks like crazy. As a couple my husband and myself like the option of a full pot or a single serve, as we enjoy in the cold months a pot of coffee (together) not waiting to make another cup for at least ...5minutes if not longer. I did have a couple of question and reached out to owner and manager and still have not heard back. The kitchen is non existent, lol so it would have been ok had we known to bring cooking utensils to the bar b que pit there are none there you just have to make do. There was plenty of fire wood A+ on that and plenty of hot water to fill the very large tub. Wish we could have used the out door shower, not sure if there no hot water going to it or what. That was one of the questions we had. The property is really peaceful but definitely needs some repairs. the stairs could use work none of the doors close unless you lock them, this is not really a problem unless it's windy as hell like it was for us. The llamas were cute we feed them they are pretty social. all in all it was good to getaway , just wish maybe they would do some repairs get a working coffee pot and grill utensils and maybe clean up the back some so it's not such an eye sore.
We’re growing! Das Jager Haus is updating and adding new living space. We’ve replaced the Keurig with a brand new model. I like your idea of adding a coffee maker to make a full pot … consider it done! The outdoor shower is seasonal (March – October) due to potential hard freezes that will burst the water pipes which we learned the hard way. The new space is an expansion of the tub room which has a 72” inch tub. There will be Bose sound and a 40” HDTV. We’re adding a patio for grilling and chilling next to the outdoor shower. For enhanced privacy, we’re putting up a 6 foot high rustic fence around the backyard. We’ve been in construction mode for several weeks. We are clearing cedar and removing the inevitable debris from the building project. Expected completion is mid-January 2020. Exciting times at DJH!
Perfect Cabin for a Perfect Weekend
For our first time going to Fredericksburgs, the Das Jager Haus made it the entire trip. We skipped out on some city activities just to enjoy the cabin. The nights at DasJager Haus was something we will always remember, star gazing by the fire pit, was truly amazing. The llamas topped it off! Couldn't have stayed at a better place. For all the couples reading this review don't forget to ask Bill for flower deliveries, it will really surprise your S/O. Cant wait to go back!
We love to hear that Das Jager Haus was a big part of your experience. It truly is a special place. Thanks for choosing DJH and come back to visit again!
We love staying here and this was our second visit. I’m sure there will be more to come. What a wonderful retreat from the real world.
The Hunter House
Loved the property. Being away from it all, remote location with wildlife was great. Loved feeding the llama's, watching deer, seeing rabbit and a coyote (or prairie dog?) with a catch in it's mouth. Away from it all yet only 10 minutes from town and wineries. Outdoor shower, large indoor tub were awesome as well as the fire pit out front. Would suggest it to my friends.
What a great place. Secluded, relaxing, and intimate! Perfect way to get away for a few days. Will definitely be back. Llamas made it even better!
33rd Anniversary Stay
The surrounding property looked like a work in progress. We could tell it was lived and loved in by items left behind in the yard and around the property. The accommodations were cozy and simple, but we had all the amenities we needed, including plenty of linens, soaps, snacks, and wifi. It would be nice if the front door and upstairs door had ability to close without being locked. We especially enjoyed the back deck and outdoor shower (never used the indoor shower!) in the mornings and the front gated yard to warm by the toasty fire to gaze at stars and listen to the insects sing in the evening. We only used the big tub once because it took too long to fill up. We would suggest fixing the flag pole attachment so it does not make creaking noises all night in the wind. We had to call the owner about working the tv because we couldn't find any instructions, so we decided not to watch it and enjoy the outside instead. Thanks so much for providing plenty of wood for a fire and food to treat the llamas! It was fun feeding the llamas and watching them wander around the property. We also enjoyed the family of 4-5 deer eat at the feeder about 100 yards away. There were little notes to read, tucked here and there throughout the cabin, where guests had shared their wonderful experiences. We spent the majority of our time outdoors. It was a very quiet and peaceful setting for a romantic 33rd anniversary getaway. Thank you for sharing it with all of us to enjoy!
