Nice former family home, now appearing unloved and neglected
The bungalow was freezing cold when we arrived, towels were clammy, some rooms smelt as if they had not been heated for at least a week. Thermostat was nowhere to be found and the boiler switched itself off as soon as it was switched on. Phoned the owner who said this was probably due to boiler pressure being low. The little taps used to refill it were stiff and could not be moved. Owner told me where two electric heaters could be found. After one of them had been on in the kitchen (where the boiler is located) for several hours, it became possible to fill the boiler, but it still switched itself off as soon as it was switched on. The next day, someone came and left a note saying there had been nothing wrong with the boiler, but the previous occupants had switched the thermostat to manual. The thermostat had now appeared in the living room and the bungalow was warm. The next day, the heating failed again. Phoned the owner again and was asked to send her a picture of the boiler. Found this insinuation that I somehow could not tell if it was working or not insulting and said so. She organized an engineer, who arrived later that evening and told us the boiler's PCB needed replacing. Owner offered us two nights' refund if we wanted to move out. I declined this, because I had organized a family reunion to celebrate my birthday, not to spend my time on the phone distributing people in different hotels after I'd already wasted two evenings arguing whether I'm capable of judging whether a boiler is working or not. I would still expect a refund, because I booked a flat, not a campsite. To me, that means at the end of October, I expect the place to be heated. I would also expect the doorbell and the towel rail to work and I do not expect to find notices saying "don't open this window, it's broken", "don't use the climbing frame, it's broken". Owner chose not to comment when I mentioned this.
Great Space for Large Group!
We stayed over a bank holiday weekend with a full house of 13 ladies. House is conveniently located in a quiet road but close to amenities. Driveway could easily accommodate 5 cars. A great amount of space, especially the large conservatory & outdoor space. Well stocked kitchen- enough plates/cups/cutlery etc for everyone. Host was extremely helpful & house guide was detailed. Did not want for anything. We had a fantastic weekend here, highly recommend!
Large family stayed in the house. Lovely area, lovely house with enough space for everyone. Easy to access and detailed discription. Can hardly recommend.
It was a great experience
As soon as we entered we found the property to be clean and tidy. The instructions on accessing the property and other key info such as lights, heaters, rubbish clearance was also good.
All the items, cutlery, utensils and some basic masalas were already available.
The property is great in size and is in a very quite and nice location. It is well maintained with a decent sized conservatory and garden.
The owner was very helpful in talking us through the heating system and also facilitated it by putting us in contact with the maintenance engineer who then talked us through how to operate it.
All in all it is a fantastic house to spend your memorable days of stay and is highly recommended.
