Mondrago Beach House (près de Cala D'or, Santanyi, Porto Petro)

Quick summary. We had not had the email from owner/agent to guide us to the property, however we were talked through it on the phone.

On arrival there were lights not working, the gas cooker was not working. We swapped bulbs around and were told we could bring the gas bottle from the other apartment!

The television was not working we were told this was due to the storms the night before.

5 of the 14 sun loungers were broken. The frames were actually cracked in half!! We were told this was due to the storm!! However, reviews that we poster from a month before also stated that the beds were broken.

We did contact the owner and the agent. The agent came out the following morning and rectified some of the issues we raised - the television was pretty useless for the 2 weeks we were there unless you were fluent in German. Some of the lights were not working due to a fused extension lead with bare wires that was removed immediately by them.

One of the downstairs rooms' was too hot to sleep in.

The spiral staircase in the upstairs property was not properly attached to the wall and appeared to be supported by a brick at the bottom. The aircon units needed to be upgraded, they were all quite noisy.

The pans supplied need changing, the handle fell off one causing it to smash a plate that cut some ones foot quite badly. The other kitchen utensils, plates and glasses were not complete and for the amount of guests was inadequate.

In the upstairs there was meant to be an oven......but there was not one!! Downstairs there was meant to be a microwave and there was not one!!

Generally the whole place was not thoroughly cleaned at all and we were not convinced some of the bedding had actually been washed. All bathrooms needed cleaning on arrival. This was not ideal because the cleaners apparently had forgotten to leave tea towels and cloths out!! I think that they had forgotten to even turn up!!

Loo roll holders were broken, handles on doors had screws missing and basically the property had not been maintained very well at all in recent years. Even the driveway was neglected causing a hire car to bottom out every time it went in and out!! The car was not even that low.

On the plus side it is a great location. Very private and what we were after.

However it was very over priced for what was on offer!!

Had a great week! Beach every morning and afternoons by the pool, which is in shade by then (August). Building was hot, but so was the weather. Easy drive to property from Palma Airport, and close enough to the shops in Cala d'or for supplies.

We stayed as large family group and loved the situation of the house in the Mondragó National Park and close to the beach at Cala Mondrago .first good points ..,, The size of house and grounds were good for us . We loved the views, the position , the market at Santanyi , local coves , the character , the wildlife and the character of the house. The kind owner let us stay half day longer The house is better suited to children 5 years +

as parts of the house are not safe for small children with drops no lawned area and rough stonework and the pool is not fenced or alarmed. The metal spiral staircase to the two top bedrooms and bathroom is easy to bump into as it sticks out into sitting room and would be easy to fall on for child or less mobile person. The pool suite bedrooms were very hot because condensers of the air conditioning were placed in an enclosed space behind them making the wall behind pool suite bedrooms like radiators . In the very hot humid weather we experienced for first nine days 32-36 degrees and high humidity the air con was not sufficient to keep the house or apartment cool enough . However the top and middle bedroom were cool if doors were shut- only three units in whole house - one in pool suite and two in main house. This needs a Re think for guests staying peak summer season. A new property manager had just taken the property Kirsty - she and son Sam tried to help with issues but they were still getting to know house and had not had time to sort the property out. The pool was lovely but not clean all the time . It really needs to be maintained every other day as position of house meant we found dead shrews spiders and other insects as well as leaves in the pool each day . It also failed to maintain clarity. and developed algae on the tiles The sun beds were needing replacement garden is overgrown and irrigation system doesn’t work . The clothes dryer in garden is rusty and leaves rust stains on clothes. The bedding supplied was very basic and as we stayed two weeks and had no house clean or bedding change mid stay we needed enough spare bedding and towels to change ourselves and this was not available. We washed and dried our own bedding and towels at cost to us . There was a small amount of spare bedding and towels but some of us were only given hand towels at the beginning which was ridiculous. Some of the kitchen equipment was broken or had bits missing. Lovely house needing attention to detail and bit Love.

Wir haben unseren Aufenthalt sehr genossen. Die Finca ist abseits der großen Städte. Damit ist ein ruhiger Urlaub garantiert. Der Lage am Naturpark und in unmittelbarer (500m) zu wunderschönen Buchten ist einfach grandios.

Die Finca mit seinem Pool ist sauber.

Ein toller Urlaub. Gerne wieder!

Wir haben unseren Aufenthalt sehr genossen. Das Haus ist toll gelegen mit Blick in den Naturpark. Das Haus ist gut geschnitten und sehr gut ausgestattet. Für uns hätte es nicht besser sein können.
