Smoking is not permitted in the cabin or inside any Basecamp building. It is customary in Alaska to remove shoes upon entry into a cabin or home. Well-behaved and controlled pets are welcome at no additional charge. We don't let our dogs into our cabin when they're wet or dirty, so we expect our guests to do likewise. A water hose and towels are available to clean 'em up and dry 'em off. The wilderness setting of Talkeetna Basecamp is quiet, peaceful and private. These are the values we offer. Our expectation is that our guests will respect and embrace them as we do. Being "off-the-grid" Talkeetna Basecamp by necessity must be as energy efficient and sustainable as possible. Solar panels, supplemental by a generator, charge the batteries which provide all of our electricity. The capacity is finite so we ask our guests to do what we have to do day in and day out - be sensitive and thoughtful about electrical use. For example, we don't use a drip coffee maker or blow dryer. It's astounding how much electrical power such devices draw. You'll understand better if you take a walk-through of our power system. It is not a "house rule" that you can't use a blow dryer or turn on lots of lights. We just ask guests to be as mindful of electrical (and water) usage as we have to be.

Exceeded our Expectations
I cannot speak enough to how much we enjoyed our three day stay here. Had all the rustic charm one could ask for, and perfectly clean at that. Adding to that, much thought went into creating a naturally self-sustaining experience. Great job guys.
Talkeetna Basecamp Made Our Vacation Perfect! 5 Stars is not nearly enough!
Beautiful, tranquil, spectacular views from the deck...comfy, cozy, extremely well appointed cabin...owners Peter and Martha felt like friends and were amazing, gracious hosts desiring to take care of any detail should it arise - nothing did but they asked if we needed anything every time we saw them anyway. We have stayed in VRBO properties for years and Peter, Martha, and their cabin made for the best experience we have ever had by far!
We spent every night we had in Alaska at Basecamp...and it would have been enough if Basecamp was all we saw. The attention to detail in the cabin, the beautiful views from the deck, the trails around property, sauna, greenhouse, garden for fresh picked veggies, and the peaceful wilderness quiet that truly gave us a restful and calming vacation. But wait, there's more. Peter and Martha are both retired park rangers and offered excellent advice on things to do and places to see. We tried as much as we had time for in 11 days and wished we had more time. If you want excitement, don't miss the Talkeetna Air Taxi flightseeing of Denali with a glacier landing!
There is a reason every review for Talkeetna Basecamp has been 5 stars. Everything past reviews said was true. If you ever visit the Talkeetna area, be sure to make your home base with Peter and Martha at Talkeetna Basecamp!
Gorgeous Alaskan retreat! The property was pristine and the outdoor spaces were fantastic for relaxing and taking in the outdoors.
This is an adorable cabin with so much attention to detail. If I ever built I cabin I would want it to look like this, inside and out. Besides that there is an incredible view of Denali from the property and the owners are super nice and accommodating. Would recommend it highly to all!
What a fantastic spot. The cabin was cozy and comfortable, easy to cook in the great little (well-stocked) kitchen. We loved exploring the property and the surrounding area. Only problem was we didn't have longer there!
Quiet, peaceful, beautiful
The only problem we had is we didn’t have enough time in Talkeetna to take advantage of this property. It was everything we were expecting and promised. We will be back.
