Inspirational autism advocate selected for 2020 Vrbo Citrus Bowl coin toss

ORLANDO, Florida – Dec. 17, 2019 – Vrbo®, the go-to place for families and friends to book vacation homes, cabins and condos, announced today that Alice Horn, owner and manager of multiple autism-friendly vacation homes in Florida, will perform the coin toss at the 2020 Vrbo Citrus Bowl on January 1. Horn will flip the coin at the 74th edition of the bowl game, held at Camping World Stadium in Orlando, in front of a national audience watching the Michigan Wolverines play the Alabama Crimson Tide on ABC.

Vrbo is recognizing Horn, CEO of VillaKey, for her dedication to helping families with autism travel and enjoy vacation together by providing autism-friendly vacation homes. VillaKey is also the first vacation rental management company to be certified in autism travel by the International Board of Credentialing and Continuing Education Standards.

“My father had sensory issues and was on the spectrum, so growing up my family didn’t travel because it was challenging for all of us to stay in a hotel room together,” said Horn. “We discovered that travel-related issues faced by families living with autism can easily be solved with a vacation rental. We love giving families the opportunity to take vacations and experience joy and quality time together.”

Families with autism face challenges when traveling and planning a vacation. VillaKey caters to the needs of these families by providing homes in quiet locations, with neutral decor, pleasant lighting and service animals allowed. VillaKey also provides guests with helpful items like door alarms, weighted blankets and information about autism-friendly attractions in the area.

"Vrbo is committed to helping families take memorable vacations together. We are inspired by how Alice and VillaKey have made travel possible and easy for families with special needs,” said Jeff Hurst, senior vice president and general manager at Vrbo. “We are honored and humbled to have Alice represent Vrbo at this year’s Citrus Bowl.
