The villa is a typical Leopoldina style stone villa built around the mid-nineteenth century set in the wonderful Valdarno area on a private and peaceful estate with woods, olive groves and wineyards. A meticulous restoration using high quality materials, and attention to detail in fabrics and furniture has conveyed a sense of beauty and elegance to the house.

The villa sleeps comfortably 10 people and is the ideal vacation solution for a group of friends or for a family reunion that want to spend an unforgettable Italian style vacation. In the outdoor area of Salceta guests will find all the amenities to a spend a memorable holiday: a nice swimming pool (6x12) with hydromassage for relaxing after a sunny day while sipping an aperitif, an outdoor dining area under a pergola, ideal to enjoy an Italian style meal, and a lovely garden.

The villa is located in a very strategic place: Florence, Arezzo and Siena are at 25-35 minutes by car. Nearby there is lots to explore and visit: the small town of Il Borro and Loro Ciuffenna, the medieval Church of Gropina, the many wineries and restaurants, and for fashion addicts the Prada outlet.
For those who are looking for thermal waters, the famous San Giovanni Terme in Rapolano Terme is less than 50 minute drive away.

Ground floor: a welcoming entrance, spacious bright living room with an open fireplace and sat TV. The fully equipped kitchen has all the modern appliances guests may need, and fits also a planche barbecue and a table for 10 people to enjoy unforgettable dinners and lunches. 1 single bedroom, and bathroom (shower), storage room.
1st floor: cozy study room, 1 double bedroom, 2 twin bedded room (both can be prepared as double), 1 single bed bedroom, 1 spacious double lavabo bathroom (shower and tub), 1 bathroom with large shower.
2nd floor: 1 air conditioned double bedroom with 3 windows giving a panoramic view upon the countryside and ensuite bathroom (shower and tub).

Beautiful home base in Tuscany for family

We all had an incredible time at Marina’s property. We had 8 people visit in total (two children aged 2 & 4, four adults and two seniors). We were celebrating my parents’ 65th birthdays and 35th anniversary. The house had more than enough room for a very comfortable, 6-night stay in Tuscany and was very central to all of the little towns we wanted to see. Marina takes obvious pride in the landscaping and maintenance of the property at Salceta, as the gardens and flowers are lush, and the pool is perfect (albeit a little chilly!). The temperature of the pool did not stop our two young children in enjoying the water. They played and splashed around while everyone enjoyed cold beverages and aperitivos around the pool. The grounds were flat and safe for the kids to run around, while the adults relaxed and visited outside. Marina cooked us a fabulous home-cooked meal the night we arrived at Salceta, and we appreciated this so much given we had spent the day travelling and arriving from the airport. We tried a few bottles of her wonderful wine, and it was the cherry on top to a great meal. My kids loved the lemon meatballs and we all enjoyed the delicious tagliatelle she had made. Marina, we loved your restaurant recommendations. They were spot-on! We tried a restaurant 1.5 in down the road and it was an an excellent spot for families with young children. We so enjoyed everything about our stay at Salceta. We hope to be back someday to experience it all again!

Our Stay at Salceta Country House Was Amazing

Marina, Our stay at your Tuscany country home for nearly 30 nights exceeded our expectations! Bravo. We stayed June 10 to July 8, 2023 and will never forget your 25-acre property with its vineyard, vegetable garden and immaculate swimming pool. When you prepared my daughter Maddy and I a country pasta dinner unasked on our first night, I knew we were in good hands with you as a gracious host. Maddy's partner Sarah joined us a few weeks later, as did others. This was an emotional trip. Before she departed in 2020, my wife Tracy and I had vowed to each other to rent a big home in the Tuscany hills and invite friends and family to stay with us. Now that vow is kept, with such sweet memories. With its six comfy bedrooms and four baths, the tastefully renovated Salceta stone house easily accommodated the 11 people who came and went over our stay, each visiting for short periods. We all enjoyed Marina's wines made from vines grown on the property, and her olive oil. Her event suggestions were perfect. Excellent local winery visits resulted. She even arranged a pasta cooking class at the house where we humbly helped the expert cooking crew create a scrumptious lunch for a reasonable extra fee that included many courses and wines. Day trips to ancient Florence, Siena, San Gimignano, Arezzo, Cortona, Poppi and elsewhere thrilled our adventurous hearts. Don't be shy to ask Marina for travel tips! SALCETA A MEMORABLE STAY

We had a memorable stay at Salceta a beautifully restored farmhouse off the beaten path lied in the heavenly countryside of Tuscany. The very well decorated home is amazing with clean, large and comfortable bedrooms, a lovely spacious kitchen and a charming living room with a gorgeous chimney. The weather was fine and I loved sitting outside under the sleeping wisteria vine sipping my coffe and looking at the beautiful landscape of vineyards, olive groves and hills. Salceta is a perfect base for visiting Arezzo, Siena, Florence and all the sweet towns just a short drive away. I can just dream of relaxing by the beautiful pool in the summer after daily outings. Marina the owner is a great host and gave us good advice about where to go, what to see and directed us to the best restaurants in the area. We will certainly come back to enjoy Salceta in the summer.

Ein segensreicher Ort

Wir waren zwei Wochen in Salceta mit Freunden und Familie. Es war einfach wunderbar. Wir konnten alle super entspannen und den Pool genießen. Das Haus ist sehr groß und sehr gut ausgestattet. Man kann ihm anmerken, dass es geliebt wird und dass Marina selbst mit ihrer Familie und ihren Freunden Zeit hier verbringt. Wir kommen gerne wieder!

Traumhaft

Wir haben uns rundherum wohlgefühlt. Marina hat mit ihrer Familie hier ein wunderschönes Anwesen, dass kein Wünsche offen lässt. Es bietet ausreichend Platz, hat großzügig liebevoll eingerichtete Zimmer, eine sehr gut bestückte Küche und einen traumhaften Außenbereich mit Pool incl. Whirlpool. Dieser sowie der Garten werden täglich von zwei Gärtnern in Ordnung gehalten, die aber kaum zu sehen sind und quasi im Hintergrund agieren. Marina war am Anreisetag vor Ort und hatte uns alle wichtigen Details, wie Spülmaschine und Waschmine erklärt, sowie wertvolle Ausflugtipps gegeben. Wir haben die 10 Tage sehr genossen und kommen bestimmt wieder. Vielen Dank !!!

Superbe villa toscane

Nous avons passé un excellent séjour dans cette grande maison au calme et superbement décorée. Les enfants ont adoré la grande piscine et nous la grande cuisine pleine d'accessoires. L'accueil de Marina était chaleureux et elle s'est rendue disponible lorsque nous avons eu besoin d'elle. Les 2 seuls inconvénients étaient les lits de 2 chambres aux matelats moins confortables et les moustiques qui apparaissaient juste à l'heure de l'apéritif. Nous recommandons cette maison !

Merveilleux séjour en Toscane

Mille mercis à Marina, notre hôte, pour son accueil, sa gentillesse, délicatesse tout au long du séjour. La maison très bien située dans la campagne toscane, ainsi que ses extérieurs, sont magnifiques, extrêmement bien décorés et entretenus. Nous avons passé un excellent séjour à 10 (dont 5 enfants), et y reviendrons sans hésiter lors d'un prochain séjour.

Une magnifique maison dans un cadre enchanteur

La maison de Marina est très accueillante, avec beaucoup de charme, parfaitement équipée pour un groupe de 10 personnes. On s'y sent très bien. Toutes les pièces sont décorées avec goût. La chambre du dernier étage avec ses trois fenêtres ouvrant sur la campagne est incroyable. Nous avons aussi beaucoup aimé la cuisine. Le jardin est bien entretenu et la grande piscine très agréable pour se rafraîchir. La grande plancha permet de cuisiner des plats simples et savoureux. Marina est très sympathique et nous a donné d'excellents conseils pour les restaurants aux alentours et a même fait les réservations pour nous. Nous avons testé l'huile d'olive et le vin rouge de la propriété que nous recommandons sans hésiter. Salceta est idéalement située pour visiter Florence (on peut prendre le train à Monte Varchi), Sienne, Arrezzo et le village d'Il Borro. Un terrain de tennis à moins de 2 km Idéal pour se ressourcer et passer du bon temps en famille et entre amis.

A lovely house in a quiet location

We rented this property for 4 weeks so that various family members could join us at various points during our stay. Everyone loved it particularly the swimming pool. The location was such that many “sites” were within no more than an hour’s drive. As we had young (grand)childrenwith us for much of the time, our eating out was primarily at lunchtime when many restaurants do not serve pizza. Worth bearing in mind that Lo Strettoio -2km from La Salceta - does do them at lunchtime on Tuesdays ! Sunday lunch is an institution and we very much enjoyed joining the locals on all 3 Sundays during our stay. Our nearest restaurant - Casa del Buono - was the most sophisticated ( lovely fish dishes) and the staff were both friendly and helpful. Marina has helpfully produced some information sheets with restaurant and other recommendations. We would not have run out of places to go and/or to eat if we had been there for 12 weeks let alone 4! We did go off piste on a number of occasions and enjoyed visits to Anghiari and Asciano, the former in particular being amazing. The kitchen is fairly simple but then so is most Italian food. We are already missing the fabulous tomatoes and mozzarella! Finally, Marina is a delightful owner and the wine from her vineyard is lovely

Fabulous place

Villa Salceta is a stunning house set away from the bustle of the cities. The house has everything one would need for a comfortable stay and Marina was extremely kind and helpful when we arrived tired from our journey. It is easy to get to Arezzo, Sienna and Florence, but also lovely to be away from the cities in a beautiful country house with cooling pool. We had a series of friends and family stay and the house was ideal for a large group. The wine is excellent, WiFi good , and local amenities easy to access. I thoroughly recommend.

Perfect property, wonderful owner

We just enjoyed a fantastic week in Tuscany and can’t imagine finding a better home to rent than this! We were 4 adults & 1 teenager so the house gave us more than enough room to spread out. It is a mid-1800’s farmhouse that has been meticulously updated while maintaining all of the original charm. We cooked almost every night, sourcing fresh herbs from the garden and dining al fresco. The pool is enormous and the perfect way to refresh following a day of exploring the Tuscan countryside (it’s only 2 years old). The property owner, Marina, is phenomenal! All correspondences beforehand were prompt and clear. We arrived late Sunday, when all the nearby supermarkets had closed; Marina escorted us to a small store nearby whose owners spoke no English, and helped us pick out some essentials. She has a wealth of knowledge of the area and made excellent suggestions for our stay. Last but not least...her wine & olive oil! Both excellent! A car is most definitely required, and makes day trips to nearby walled towns like Siena & Arezzo very convenient. Took the train from nearby Montevarchi in to Florence...very simple. The location, like everything else, is superb. We’re so happy with our decision and hope to return one day. Grazie Marina!!

Haus wurde mit viel Liebe und Geschmack renoviert und eingerichtet, gross genug, Pool super sauber, auch die Küche ist gut ausgestattet. Marina ist sehr nett und bei Bedarf telefonisch immer erreichbar, Infos zur Umgebung bzgl Einkaufen und Essen in folierter Form vorhanden. Jederzeit wieder!!!

Les photos témoignent de la beauté des lieux et de sa nature lumineuse! Située de façon stratégique pour permette des visites des environs avec une a deux heures de route(Pise,Florence,Sienne) Nous avons été enchanté par toutes les suggestions de Marina depuis l’épicerie en passant par les restaurants,le vignoble Il Borro et la ville médiévale de Cortona! Nous recommandons fortement cette propriété et pourrions y retourner avec grand plaisir pour poursuivre notre découverte de la Toscane Famille Lacroix Bernier du Canada

Fantastic Tuscany Accomodation

If there were more than 5 stars, we would have selected the higher number. The property is wonderful, clean and quiet. The relative central location to amazing sites in Tuscany is exactly what we wanted. Very highly recommended!

Beautiful house and gracious host

We had a lovely time at Salceta. The house is very comfortable, clean and well equipped. The location is gorgeous - peaceful and relaxing. The pool was warm and a welcome relief from the hot weather. Bepe came everyday to clean the pool and sorted out a wasp invasion! The mosquitos were irritating so we would advise stocking up on sprays etc. The markets locally were excellent for fresh local produce and the Coop in Montevarchi was good for the other shopping. We would recommend Marina’s wine and olive oil - both delicious. She is also a very gracious host. We would highly recommend the house and will definitely return.

Magical

We had a wonderful family holiday in a beautiful house with loads of room for 8 adults and two dogs. The house and location were amazing. The views were breathtaking from the house and in the general area and the grounds, which are extensive, were well taken care of as was the fantastic pool. The house was also perfectly positioned for trips out for those who could drag themselves away from the pool. The stylish and beautifully decorated house was well equipped - there was absolutely nothing we couldn't find, the crockery and glassware were gorgeous and numerous. Marina was so kind, helpful and generous. I have no reservations or complaints. A wonderful week was spent. Thank you

Idylle pur

Salceta ist ein wunderschönes, großes, geräumiges, altes Steinhaus inmitten schönster Natur. Es hat 6 Schlafzimmer, 2 davon mit Einzelbetten, die Matratzen sind unterschiedlich gut-mittel. Die Kopfkissen waren sehr gut, ebenso die Decken, die sehr sauber waren (wir haben woanders schon andere Erfahrungen gemacht). Im Dachzimmer ist eine Klimaanlage, ansonsten stehen einem 2 Ventilatoren zur Verfügung. Die Küche ist groß - ebenso wie alle Räume - und hat alles, was wir zum Kochen brauchten. Aus der Küche geht man zu dem herrlichen Sitzplatz, der von Glyzinien umrankt ist und so sehr gut Schatten spendet, so dass man dort zu jeder Tageszeit sitzen kann. Für uns war das i-Tüpfelchen des sehr gepflegten Anwesens der große Pool, der einfach fantastisch ist. Jeden Morgen kommt der Poolpfleger, so dass er immer sauber ist. An allen Beckenrändern kann man stehen, er vertieft sich in der Mitte, an einer Seite sind Stufen und in einer Ecke eine Art Whirlpool. Gestört haben uns nur die vielen stechenden Insekten, darüber liest man auch im Gästebuch. Wir hatten einfache Fliegenfenster mit und haben dort noch welche dazu gekauft, es war sonst nicht möglich, nachts die Fenster offen zu lassen ohne zerstochen zu werden. Wir haben uns abends zusätzlich mit Anti-Stech Mittel eingesprüht. Aber abgesehen davon war alles perfekt, das Haus ist sauber und großzügig, der Wasserdruck - auch wenn ich hier vielleicht zu sehr ins Detail gehe - war super, die Duschen prima, es gibt am Haus auch eine Außendusche. Im Garten befindet sich noch ein zweiter Sitzplatz, von dem aus man einen herrlichen Blick in die weitläufige Natur hat. Wir haben es sehr genossen, abends dort am Grundstücksrand zu sitzen. Marina ist sehr freundlich und jederzeit erreichbar, zur Begrüßung und zum Abschied war sie kurz in ihrem Haus, welches gegenüber dem Haupthaus auf dem Grundstück ist. Salceta liegt recht versteckt, was auch den Reiz ausmacht, und war für uns von Florenz mit dem Mietwagen kommend, nicht alleine auffindbar. Marina hatte von Anfang an angeboten, uns zu treffen und hinzuführen und so haben wir es dann auch gemacht. Die nächste Einkaufsmöglichkeit ist im kleinen Ort Campogialli, aber Montevarchi mit seinen großen Supermärkten ist auch prima zu erreichen. Wir können Salceta absolut empfehlen und würden dort sehr gerne wieder unseren Urlaub verbringen, wir haben die Zeit genossen, herzlichen Dank an Marina.

Tuscan perfection

The Schiffman family and friends thoroughly enjoyed our two-week sojourn at La Salceta. The lovely rural setting, tastefully restored villa and Marina's hospitality contributed to a memorable experience. Nothing was overlooked to make our stay as comfortable and worry-free as possible. Although La Salceta is secluded and nestled among grapevines, cypresses,d lavender and rosemary, it is convenient to all the historic cities and charming hill towns. Moreover, the co-ops in Terranova-Braciolini and Montevarchi provide for excellent food shopping - as do the nearby groceries, butchers and bakeries. Marina also provided a list of recommended restaurants that lived up to her descriptions and our expectations. We were especially delighted when Marina offered to prepare a typical Tuscan dinner upon our arrival. We could not have asked for a more delightful introduction to this sublime region of Italy. Grazie, Marina.

A Special Place

We spent four days at Salceta in June and left wishing it could have been four weeks. The views of the Valdarno hayfields from the garden, Marina’s vineyard, the surrounding olive groves and hills are all breathtaking, and we found it easy to relax and detach from our usually hectic lives amid so much serenity. The house is spacious, comfortable, and well equipped, and it’s even more beautiful than the pictures convey. With high ceilings and ample rooms, it’s quite a bit larger inside than it might seem, and the terracotta floors and Marina’s amazing eye for decoration make it warm and intimate as well. The kitchen, with its stone sink and trumpet-vine covered pergola just outside, was a highlight for us—rustic but very well-appointed with all the implements one could need, and a great place to gather the family to cook and share meals. When booking we were initially a little concerned about the remoteness of the location, but found the house to be the perfect base for exploring the region. It is definitely very rural, but there are wonderful farm restaurants (“osterie”) nearby, and we loved exploring the tiny, medieval towns in the surrounding hills. We also made memorable day trips to Arezzo and Florence (tip for the latter: drive to Montevarchi and take the train; parking is free in the lot behind the station), and ironically, we wound up cancelling a planned sojourn to Siena because time was short and we found we loved hanging around the house, pool, and grounds so much. Marina is the most gracious of hosts, warm and generous, and helped us by stocking a few necessities for our arrival, making dinner reservations at a nearby restaurant, providing excellent tips for grocery shopping, dining, and exploring, and generally making us feel welcome and at home. The wine made from her grapes, “Da Zero,” is fabulous. Signore Beppo, the gardener, put a couple of bikes in working order for us and on our last morning we discovered what will surely be a ritual for us on our next trip: a pleasant ride to nearby Compogialli where the small “tabac” is amazingly well stocked and serves some of the best coffee we had on our entire trip. In short, we give Salceta and its wonderful host our highest rating. We will surely return, and hope it won’t be long before we do!
