Gus’s cabin greeted us like a warm hug. It was exactly what we needed for this particular trip. Just a wonderful historic cabin with a cozy ambiance that makes you never want to leave. The modern amenities blend in with the original cabin features so that you have the modern comforts, but not at the expense of the rustic charm of the cabin. A beautiful accomplishment! Marci’s beautiful paintings, pottery & weavings adorn every room & bring an authentic feel to the cabin. My husband & I loved the comfortable reading nooks & the host of beautiful coffee table books available. Marcia is such a warm & friendly hostess & surprised us with a delicious “Unwind” cake upon our arrival. It was delicious & we enjoyed it with cups of coffee in the evenings. Really was a special extra touch. This is our second stay with Marcia. We stayed at Clara’s cabin on a previous visit. Another very special cabin. On each of our visits Marcia has gone above & beyond to make our stay a special one. Thank you Marcia for everything! We so appreciate your sharing your special cabins & plan to return again & again.

Gus's Place was the perfect place to stay in Nacogdoches. It was just as pictured. Our host provided such great resturant suggestions. The check in process was seamless. We were surrounded by nature, but just a 5 minute drive into town. We will book Gus's Place next time we are in Nacogdoches.

This was cabin was beautiful and so peaceful just a prefect place to unwind. My husband and I stay for the weekend to visit our daughter at SFA .Host was so helpful even brought us a cake to celebrate football game. Already planning our next trip.

Everything was perfect for our weekend getaway to celebrate our 35th anniversary. The hostess was extremely responsive with our questions while allowing us privacy throughout our stay. Simple electronic check-in details were provided in advance and made checking in a breeze. We didn’t cook, but it appeared all the appliances were available for pretty much anything we would have wanted to do. Thank you for sharing your sweet little cabin with us!

Magical experience

I never leave reviews but i felt compelled to leave one for this stay. My Fiance and i had an absolutely amazing time. The house was very cute and welcoming, there are fireflies in the area and Nacogdoches in general was great, everyone was so friendly and kind. The property manager was extremely gracious and helpful as well. You won’t regret staying here!

The place is just quiet and serene, surrounded with beauty and the true flavor of Nacogdoches. Falling asleep to the rain at night and waking up to the fog in the yard made me miss home a lot. It’s out of the way of everything yet surprisingly close to all the thangs! thankful for the Lyon Ranch - what a good time :)

We have lived on and loved this wonderful property since 2000. It is just the perfect spot being 2.5 miles from town and yet on 25+ acres of beautiful hardwoods. We both love the outdoors and this place allows us to enjoy the close proximity of town and the peace that is found in the country. My husband grew up in Levelland, Texas on a farm and loves the pastures as well as the woods surrounding us out here. We always have a few cows in one of the adjoining pastures and we enjoy them as well as the gardens and the chicks. Of course we have a wonderful dog or two always and our little farm cat wandering about. (We LOVE our animals but we DO NOT welcome them into the house.)
I grew up in West Texas also... Amarillo to be exact, and really enjoy our little Casita (and the main house which is a bit like a large treehouse)! We have a barn with a kitchen and music studio and of course work space for the farm stuff! Out in the back of the big house is a "Brew Kitchen" where my husband makes incredible craft beers from time to time..

We maintain 'Premier' status throughout our hosting, and we score within the top 1% of all vacation rental hosts. We do this by valuing our guests and understanding what's important to them. (Like supplying almost EVERYTHING BUT your groceries in all of our homes! We have been to too many rental homes that did not even have toilet paper, paper towels, or coffee, soaps, shampoo, condiments, etc. We want you to enjoy your vacation and feel that you are home and NOT in a rental.) Our guests appreciate a professionally cleaned home on each visit. Our guests also appreciate our quick, communication response times throughout the rental process - from the booking to the stay. We are passionate about hosting and take great pride in ensuring our guests have a great experience. I hope you enjoy it as much as we do! We live 1/4 mile up a winding driveway high on a hill. We are gone a good bit and may or may not be at home when you arrive. BUT you will be WELL CARED FOR! You can reach me at (a telephone number that this site will not give out until booking) if you need me. Be advised....I am NOT a mechanic, electrician, or carpenter (but I can usually locate them!). I am grandmother named KUKU who loves to have folks over to enjoy a leap back in time.....I will do whatever I can to make your stay memorable.

Since we bought this property we have added the barn with an apartment in it, and Clara's Cabin, as well as updating Gus's Place. We "vacation" there when we can't find the time to get away. Sitting on the front porch, looking out at the cows in the pasture to the left or gathering eggs for breakfast or just relaxing make this a very, very special get away. Come see your college kid or just enjoy fishing at one of the area lakes or take in the many historical landmarks in "The Oldest Town in Texas". Relax at a wonderful, personal little cabin that is a quaint bit of history and leave totally refreshed and relaxed.
