We arrived around 11 pm on the coldest night of the year, after struggling in the darkness for 10 minutes with the outer gate and its tricky, hard-to-locate lock-box. Then we found there was no heat in the apartment: it was stone cold. There was nothing to do about it but bundle up for the night under all available covers. By afternoon of the next day we were able to sort out the radiators with the help of an engineer and multiple phone calls and other messages. It seems that the thermostat is connected to the boiler via a wi-fi connection, and the connection had gone dead. But why have such a fragile heating setup?
There were other problems: the coffee caraffe split wide open on account of cracked glass, and there was no tea pot, though we are tea drinkers. The owners, to their credit, tried to be helpful and made a token refund for the initial lack of heat, but the overall picture is that the flat was not nearly as attractive as we had expected, while this was a booking that went badly for us from the start.
