We loved this holiday home. It suited our needs completely.
This is a quaint bach, that is clean and tidy and right across the road from the park and the beach. We loved our stay here and in fact tried to stay an extra night as a result and were very disappointed that we were unable to book the extra night. We will be back!
We are not happy about the fact that the shower was not working upon our arrival . The Bach was booked way in advance and that gave you guys ample of time to sort out any issues for the Bach. On Thursday when we arrived I sent a text to Craig and he never got back to us. On Friday morning again I called he didn’t answer so I sent a text asking for the shower to be fixed as we couldn’t shower the previous night. There was lack of prompt reply as we had to invest our time to chase after him to get the shower fixed. This kind off ruined our mood and holiday vibes. 9.23 am we received a text from Craig that he will get someone to look at the shower. We didn’t shower at all on Thursday evening after travelling in the heat for 7 hours. We were 3 ladies and its really pathetic that we couldn’t shower. Friday morning we waited till 10.30 am no one turned up so we boiled the kettle and showered the old style using the basin. There was no water pressure from the shower or any hot water in the shower.
We paid money and expected everything to be up and running We need some reimbursement as we paid in full and expected it to be in running condition. Book a Bach didn't reply to our email and we need partial refund . I would like this review to remain here for others to know as well.
When the guests turned the shower on a calcite deposit in the water line broke off and blocked the shower rose. We had the problem repaired within the day. The repair man did explain the nature of the problem to the guests.
This was not a problem that we could have forseen as it happened on the day of occupancy.
It was extremely difficult to communicate with these guests. I did explain that it would take some hours to find a repairman to fix the problem but the guests did not appear to understand this. The repairman explained that the blockage had most likely just occurred. The guests did not appear to understand this. There appeared to be quite some language barrier.
The guests attempts at contact were made at 9.40 at night, when my wife and I were so sound alseep that we were not awakened by the phone ringing.. They next rang at 9.15am and we got on to the problem immediately. The shower was back in full working order later that day.
We do experience the occasional problem with calcite deposits in the Whanganui water supply. Whanganui has very hard water.
We have a preventative maintenance schedule to control the problem . This does not enable us to predict when calcite deposits may break free and cause a blockage.
The guests were very volatile, verbose and aggressive and seemed to be unable to comprehend the nature of the problem or the information that was passed to them.
We are very sorry for the inconvenience caused but also feel that we did everything in our power to prevent and repair the problem.
Communication with these guests was extremely frustrating.
We generally enjoy sharing our 100 year old historic holiday cottage with guests and do so at a very reasonable rate. However this was not a happy experience for us and I can not reccommend Vimla to any other similar holiday home owners.
