We had a pleasent two weeks at Cuarenta over all the house was comfortable and clean. The outside space was wonderful and we very much enjoyed our stay .
Thank you for this Andrew - glad you enjoyed your holiday so much, Kevin
Nous avons passé de super vacances.... MERCI
Many thanks Sophie. Glad you enjoyed the house, Alora and the wider area so much. Kevin
Great holiday, fantastic townhouse
Fantastic break at this spacious and conveniently located house in Alora.
The outside space is wonderful and has many areas to sit, lounge about, sunbath and cool down. We spent most of our time outside during our stay, enjoying very lazy days . The interior is comfortable and spacious. The location is ideal you feel like you are in the centre of town near to bars, restaurants and shops but have peace and quiet during the day and night. We had very hot weather during our stay, only one wet day ! ( sorry Kevin couldnt resist) Kevin is a great owner who is friendly and his comunication is excellent. Joe and Brian who look after the house are friendly and nothing is too much trouble. Alora is a fantastic town with a bit of everything for all. Malaga is only a short train ride away which is a fabulous city. Caminto del ray is a must for anyone with a head for heights. We have already booked for next year.
Thank you for this, Tim. We are really pleased that you enjoyed your stay so much and look forward to hosting you again next year. With best wishes, Kevin
Fantastic comfortable house
We had great time at Kevin's house. A very hot week but the shaded terrace was perfect and early morning on the top terrace waiting for the light over the hills was very beautiful and peaceful.
The house is comfortable and the kitchen well equipped. The outside area is perfect for evening eating, very quiet and secluded and with easy access to the upper terraces. Having two bathrooms is very convenient and one being a wet room is perfect for anyone with restricted mobility. The situation of the house is private and safe and secure.
Alora is such a lovely traditional Spanish town with good bars and restaurants. We visited Malaga, Ronda, Calahonda, beautiful Castellar, Jimena (bit of a drive but lovely roof top restaurant at El Anon) and walked the Caminito del Ray--so much to see and do.
Thank you Jan, this is a lovely review. It's great to hear that, as ever, you enjoyed yourselves at the house and wonderful to see that, even though this was your fourth visit, you are still finding new places to visit and enjoy. I hope to hear from you again soon. With best wishes, Kevin
It started off quite badly because the back door was stuck shut and the property manager had to come and fix it resulting in not being able to shut it when we went out. The property is very tired. The hob wouldn’t work and the dvd wouldn’t work. My husband has just had a stroke so the fact that it was on three levels outside should have been mentioned beforehand. Oh and the pool was leaking.
I was a little taken aback and then perplexed by this, our first negative review after 12 years of letting out the property. However, first and foremost, you didn’t enjoy your stay as much as you should have done and for that I am sorry. I hate the idea of people at the house being dissatisfied. As soon as we received this review the manager, who lives 5 minutes away, went to the house. The hob works but the DVD didn’t. Either way, had you called her it would have been sorted out – but we can’t do anything if you only tell us after you leave. For example, as you have said there was a problem with the back door when you arrived. We now know that the metal frame had swollen in the heat but we didn’t know this then because the house had been vacant for a week prior to your arrival. The manager arrived the same day and found a temporary solution (the door couldn’t be fully shut but there was no security issue) and the more extensive work to fix it properly (which would have been disruptive) was completed as soon as you left.
I’m surprised that you found the house ‘tired’. In the last 12 months we have spent several thousand pounds refurbishing the bathroom, shower room, utility room, terrace canopy and electrics. I spent 6 to 8 weeks at the house each year so perhaps I am biased by familiarity but I take particular care to keep on top of things. I will try and look at it with a neutral eye when I am next there.
I’m also sorry to hear your husband has had a stroke and I hope his recovery continues to go well. However, I didn’t know you had mobility problems, otherwise of course I would have pointed out that there was a flight of stairs to the roof terrace and three more steps to the second terrace (these are clearly shown in photos on the website, though). Because these are the only stairs in the property (as you know, all the interior rooms and the courtyard are at the same level) I tend to think that it’s quite easy to navigate and it’s not something I would think to mention as a matter of course.
Again, I’m sorry that you found some things not to your liking. Holidays are very important to people and I try to make sure that the house is a place that they will enjoy. If what I have said above makes you more comfortable with the house, in recompense I would gladly offer a substantial discount should you wish to book again. With kind regards, Kevin
