some real problems, and no re-bate as promised
Booked an executive apartment at Ferndale , new with a large balcony overlooking the Kennet. A day before my arrival I was contacted and told the apartment was NOT available, and that alternative accommodation would be provided. This meant staying one night in a basic student apartment where you had to carry your cases up 4 flights of stairs , and wash with cold water as hot water was not working. The next day we were to move to another apartment in the city center, so my son had to miss a days work while he waiting for the agent to come by, and help move our belongings.
The next apartment, although much nicer was inferior to the one booked and had NO parking. We paid for parking, and received only one key for the entrance to the building and one key for the apartment door. This was totally inconvenient, but two days later we were given an additional key set and a parking space about half a mile away, again totally inconvenient. ( it rained every day).
The kitchen had no working toaster, and the dishwasher had a strange mechanism whereby there was a switch behind the microwave that had to be turned on , so that it could work. After several calls we got the required information.
As mentioned we got a spare "Fob" key that activated the front door and the inside door to the garbage disposal area. So II entered the garbage area to dispose of our garbage then returned to find that my Fob key did not work, so I had to open the garbage back exit door go out and stand in the rain wondering how to get back in. ( with no outer coat) . Pointless to call the agent by now, so I asked the adjoining building concierge what could be done, he said he could try and re-set the Fob key. He re-set the key and so I got back in to the building.
The next day we found that the agent had made an unauthorized visit to our apartment to show someone the apartment for letting. When we challenged the agent, ( as the lights had been left on) he/she claimed that no one had been in our apartment.
Not true we said, the lights were left on, and so the truth came out.
Now in all this we were promised a discount for all our additional expenses and inconvenience, which totalled close to 300 UK pounds, and when we repeated our concern that nothing had been done, we were told that a Director was "looking into it"
When we left we had a problem as to were to leave the keys and "parking sticker" , so I went back to the building next door and asked the Concierge and gave him the keys.
