Gorgeous view across to Tacoma and Mt. Rainier
We have rented several times in this neighborhood in the past 8 years. The view and the home are very good. My wife and I are in our 70's and in good physical shape, but the walk from the parking area to the home is lengthy especially if you have suitcases or groceries The walk down from the parking area is downhill and the walk to the parking area is uphill. There is no assigned parking spots so we usually came back early to insure we had 1 of the 4 parking spots. I am not sure where you park if the 4 spots are occupied as there are many signs warning about towing. Finally I recommend the owners update the bath/shower as it is a high step to get over the bath tub and then farther down into the very slippery tub/shower combo. I always stood with my wife when she showered in case of a fall.
Cozy comfy beautiful peaceful.
We enjoyed our stay over the July 4th weekend. Perfect view of the Tacoma fireworks with no crowds or noise. The walk from parking to cottage is quite a trip but worth it. Having the separate bunk room was perfect for our family. Only down side is the one bathroom but we managed. Would love to stay again.
Unbeatable view but bad property management
The good: The place comes with an unbeatable view. Being able to walk right out the door onto the deck with the Puget Sound splashing right in front is amazing. It is also quiet. The house has wood walls and a wood ceiling which is charming.
The bad: Harbor Home Vacation Rentals did not send us the information for us to be able to get into the house prior to our arrival, so we could not stay our first night. They said they were having trouble with their system not sending it, but they did not try to call us to let us know or make sure we got it another way. We tried to call multiple times and left messages with no return phone call and no phone number provided. If you need immediate assistance you will not get it with Harbor Home Vacation Rentals. It was a bummer to not be there for one whole night and they did not even both to check in to be sure we got in the next day okay (which luckily we did). Secondly, the house is a five minute trek along a pathway from where you can park. There is no near by parking and you have to park on top of a hill and walk down, then walk a long path to the house. Third, we were not informed that the bunkhouse (2nd bedroom) is not attached to the house so people who stay have to go outside to get to it and if anyone wants to use the bathroom during the night you have to go outside and around to the main house entrance. This would have been good to know beforehand. Lastly, there is no outside heaters and just a picnic table and seats. Overall, the fact that we were never called by Harbor Home to help us after we could not get in was very disappointing.
Gorgeous view, worth the trek, detached 2nd bedroom
Great space for a small group, gorgeous view, the trek to/from the car is pretty inconvenient but fully paved and worth it - I did it with crutches - but definitely not ideal for lots of coming/going. Several lights out and kitchen fan not working - slow response from management and no remediation - none of these were critical items though. We were surprised to learn upon arrival that the 2nd bedroom is detached and therefore guests would need to venture outside to get to the restroom in the main house at night - recommend being more open about this for expectations. Requirement to have a load of towels completed prior to vacating the premises seemed odd and made the morning of departure stressful and/or non-showerable for everyone in the group - not a high note to end a lovely stay.
Incredible water front........harbor seal greeted us.
This is a mixed review. The cabin has a GREAT, waterfront view. The cabin was very clean. Loved the harbor seal playing out front, the sunrise was spectacular, nice big deck. Nice there is a wall AC. ( AC hard to find in Washington State.). kitchen well stocked with essentials. Coffee pot could use an update. Some house keeping details need to be addressed. Half of the lightbulbs were burned out, 1 1/2 roll of TP for three people for three days??, spring on main screen door to deck broken and latch missing so couldn’t leave main door open to get breeze and hear water because of bugs, tub very slippery especially having to step down into it. More and more comfortable deck furniture would be nice. The description of parking is a little lacking. You park in a turn around on a street ABOVE the cabin. You walk down a street to get to a path you walk down and then across the front and rear of other houses to get to this one. It is a very hard walk back up. It is a place you bring everything in with you the first time and you don’t plan on going back out often. While I read the description before I booked, it was not completely forth coming as to the difficulty/ grade of these hills. Saying all that, the cabin was clean, the view great. Loved the high tide right up to the deck, then low tide walking on the rocky beach. Also the deer are like dogs, they are not afraid of humans. Saw four every day. The Gig Harbor area is wonderful. Ate at Anthony’s twice on the patio, really good. Visited mount Rainier, highly recommend.
We are so happy to hear that you enjoyed this fun space and life on the water. The lightbulbs had just been replaced so are baffled how they were burned out! They have now been replaced, we are so sorry about that! With regard to the toilet paper, there should have been extra rolls in the bathroom cabinets, sorry about that -- we could have directed you to them had we known.
We hope to have you again!
