What an amazing place!
When we set out to see Nova Scotia, we looked for places to be "off the beaten path" and truly experience the region, and what a stroke of luck to have found this gem! A small and cozy room for two with views you could only imagine!
Our hostess Liz made available a cooler for us to keep some refreshments over our stay, and offered to let us keep things in the main house refridgerator. While we missed the chance to meet Captain Rick, Liz was phenominal and really made us feel like family, even letting us do laundry.
Their home itself is a beautiful place rich in character, with decor that tastefully captures the nautical element of being on the ocean shore, full of history, and what a view!
The main house and cottage are steps away from the lighthouse, and the most beautiful view you could wish for, morning, noon or night! Watching the change in tide, walking along the shore where just hours before the ocean covered, simply an experience you must have, and in such an intimate setting you could never imagine. Located remotely, but a close enough drive for us to head out for a day of whale watching, then come home to a cozy patio for drinks and relaxation at the edge of paradise.
And how much better can a gorgeous sunrise be than to have a fabulous meal prepared with poached eggs, bacon, toast with homemade jelly and scallops! Without knowing, Liz made one of my faorites...blueberry pancakes! We shared stories and chatted as if we had stopped in to visit a long time friend. We cannot wait to go back again. If you are looking to truly experience life in Nova Scotia, make this MUST DO on your bucket list!
So much fun
Liz and her husband were the best. They lent us some chairs to go down to the bay for a bon fire. The view from the room is incredible. Then we joined them for breakfast in the main house, which was the highlight of the entire trip so far. We hope they let us stay again soon!
