Uma suite confortável em nossa antiga casa de campo do século XIX, na ilha de S. Miguel, Açores. O suite tem um grande quarto de cama, uma lareira no amplo salão, cozinha completa, e jardim de Inverno.

Na orla da cratera das Sete Cidades, Vila de Capelas, "Vila Alegre", foi completamente restaurada recentemente. Fica a poucos minutos das praias e zonas balneares do norte e sur, e de Ponta Delgada, a cidade principal da ilha. Antiga casa de Verão da nossa família, foi completamente remodelada, tendo em atenção máxima o manter a traça tradicional de uma casa de campo micaelense, com o conforto dos nossos dias.

Mobilada com móveis antigos, cuidadosamente restaurados. Para estadias de Inverno, temos lareira e aquecimento, embora, graças ao nosso clima temperado e à constituição das paredes de pedra da casa, raramente seja necessário. A ausência de ruído é uma realidade pelas mesmas razões. Temos Internet sem fios, TV com canais em várias línguas e, estacionamento seguro, dentro de portas com acesso direto à cozinha da casa.

É ótimo fazer passeios curtos, próximo, visitando pequenas lojas, acessos rurais, ou usufruindo dos tranquilos jardins da nossa casa. Com acesso aos jardins e churrasqueira, permite ligação entre o conforto da casa e aos jardins em redor com muita facilidade. Estes são compostos por dois grandes relvados, rodeados de plantas e árvores exóticas com mais de 40 anos: magnólias, azáleas, redondendrum, jacarandás, carvalhos, fetos vários, etc.

Todos são bem-vindos! Se procura um fim-de-semana romântico, uma estadia mais longa no campo ou férias relaxantes com a família este é um uma "home-base" espetacular e única para a sua estadia em S. Miguel. O transporte público passa em frente da nossa casa para uma curta viagem à cidade ou ao norte Capelas.

Ideal para pessoas sós, casais ou pequenas famílias. Podemos acomodar crianças ou hóspedes além do previsto em berço, cama extra ou sofá-cama.

Absolutely Wonderful!

From the moment of arrival and till the moment of departure, our stay with António was perfect! The house and the garden are even more beautiful than the pictures show. We were quite overwhelmed by the fantastic flowers in big vases in every room, even in the kitchen. And the fridge was full of good things for our first breakfast - which was very considerate, because we arrived around midnight because of a changed flight schedule. António picked us up at the airport! What a service! Everything in the house functioned to perfection, and the bed is delightful. António helped with everything we needed help for and offered to do more, such as giving us interesting ideas about his homeland. We had some good talks and enjoyed a bit of laughing together, having more or less the same sense of humour, although we are from Scandinavia and António from 'the middle of the Atlantic Ocean'. Our stay on that beautiful island, São Miguel, was only just long enough to make it clear to us that we need to go back soon, and then, of course, we will stay in Vila Alegre again! Thank you, António!

Estadia agradável

Casa muito agradável com jardim amplo. Todas as divisões agradáveis e amplas com mobiliário antigo muito bonito. Fomos com uma criança e tudo correu muito bem. A localização é perfeita para descansar, perto de Ponta Delgada e das Sete Cidades numa vila pequena.

Wonderful location minutes away from Ponta Delgada. Can't say enough about the accomodations, huge living room and bedroom, very modern bathroom but the real gem is the glass sunroom looking out over the courtyard. Don't think you would want to stay here without a car. It is centrally located so you could make this your only accommodation and see the whole island. Good parking. The reason I give this 6 out of 5 stars is because the host goes way out of his way to ensure you have a positive visit. We were provide with a bowl of fruit, a slice of cheese neither of which we could finish in our one week visit. He also provided bread and several bottles of wine plus all the kitchen condiments you require, oil, vinegar, salt, pepper jams etc. On our request Antonio sat down with us one evening to make recommendations of things to do and places to visit. Our best rental experience ever!

Herrliche Insel, Traumwohnung

Wir waren vom 8.9. - 18.09.2014 auf der wunderschönen Insel Sao Miguel. Antonio war ein wunderbarer Gastgeber. Die herrllche Ferienwohnung mit Wintergarten und dem riesigen Garten (Dimensionen wie ein Park) sind schwer zu toppen.Absolut zu empfehlen!! Wir hatten einen Mietwagen, und konnten so die meisten touristischen Highligths der Insel erkunden.Millionen von Hortensien geben der Insel ein überragendes Flair. Es wächst hier auch die beste Ananas der Welt.

Villa Allegre

We spent a fantastic week in Sao Miguel in August. The Azores are generally very beautiful but we could not belive our luck when we arrived in Villa Allegre: the house and the gardens are absolutely stunning. Our hosts, Marco and Antonio were extremely friendly and always very helpful; we would love to come back one day. Thank you so much for a lovely holiday!

Amazing Stay with Antonio!

Everything about our stay was great. Antonio had flawless pre arrival communication, allowed us an early checkin (which was much appreciated after an overnight flight) and welcome light breakfast was extremely hospitable. The property itself was as advertised and perfect for three active people. The setting and all the amazing gardens that are so well loved allowed for a peaceful and tranquil setting each day. Highly recommend this amazing property to all.

Remarkable Refuge!

We were more than happy to have discovered Vila Alegre in the countryside outside of Ponta Delgada. It was beautiful, peaceful, and an amazing place to have been our home base for 5 days in Sao Miguel. Antonio was extremely helpful, knowledgeable, and willing to answer questions to help guide our itinerary while there. We can't say enough good things about our experience there, and we definitely plan to return!

Loved every minute of our stay!

From the moment we arrived and Antonio greeted us, it was perfect! He was such a kind man and we loved hearing about the gardens and enjoyed spending time sitting on the sun porch overlooking the beautiful property. The local foods he provided were delicious and were very much appreciated until we could get to a store. The apartment was spacious and immaculate…and decorated beautifully. Location couldn’t be better to get anywhere on the island. Thank you for a fantastic vacation and we hope to be able to return soon!

I honestly cannot say enough about Antonio‘s property. This place was literally magical. The house was beautiful, amazing roomie. He had tons of antique furniture that just set the tone of the place and made it so comfortable homey and beautiful. And oh my goodness what can I say about the garden that man was out there every day tending to his property and keeping the gardens in shape and man was a beautiful. to be able to come home after a long day and look out over the gardens and see all the birds and hear all the birds and how beautiful his property was. It was amazing and I’m so glad I picked it. It was the best place I could’ve possibly stayed in. To say it was beautiful is an understatement. It is absolutely magical.

Azzorre on the road!

Abbiamo scelto Vila Alegre perché volevamo vivere in un tipico contesto azzorriano e per poter girare tutta l'isola di Sao Miguel. Si è rivelata in tal senso una scelta perfetta. La casa è molto spaziosa e dotata di tutti i comfort. La veranda che si affaccia sul verde giardino di Antonio ci ha donato momenti di piacevole relax dopo i nostri trekking quotidiani. Antonio è un host eccezionale, ci ha accolto al nostro arrivo facendoci trovare squisiti prodotti tipici per la cena e la colazione, inoltre ci ha fatto la gentilezza di tenere i nostri bagagli il giorno del check out per evitare di tenerli in macchina fino a sera. Ci siamo sentiti come a casa nostra e se dovessimo visitare nuovamente Sao Miguel torneremo sicuramente da Antonio. Vogliamo però sottolineare che le chiacchierate con Antonio saranno parte dei ricordi più belli perché viaggiare è anche e soprattutto condivisione. Ti aspettiamo in Italia, Antonio!

The beautiful Vila Alegre

A charming homey stay in a restored vila. The gardens are endless and lush, planted and lovingly cared for by Antonio. This was our refuge after 2 weeks of travel in urban Portugal. It refreshed us, body and soul. Will come back!

Quiétude d’un hébergement Açorien

Antonio est un hôte très accueillant et prévenant et parlant très bien français. Il nous partage sa maison et son magnifique jardin. Capelas est un point de chute très sympa pour visiter Sao Miguel avec de bons petits restos, une piscine « naturelle » très sympa pour profiter de la baignade et loin de l’agitation touristique.

Authentic Azores!

When we arrived Antonio was there to greet us and show us the apt. He also graciously supplied breakfast fixings including; local cheese, buns, fresh eggs, fruit and coffee. Such a welcome treat after an early flight. He was also very accommodating and allowed us to check in early and leave a little later than normal. We can’t say enough about our host! The apt is deceptively spacious with nice little touches like fresh flowers from his garden. Antonio explained the house had been his original family home. We were greeted by chickens and rooster each morning (they were kind and didn’t make noise until we were awake). Weather was a little bit of everything while we were there so i recommend dressing in layers. This was a wonderful local Azores experience and we loved all our adventures on the island.

Wonderful stay

Just returned yesterday from the beautiful island of Sao Miguel. This was our third trip and once again it did not disappoint. I can’t give Antonio enough praise for making it so enjoyable! From the treats that were left for us to enjoy to the sunroom where we had our morning coffee and a glass of wine at night, he made sure we were comfortable after returning from a day of sightseeing. We always looked forward to feeding the chickens in the morning before heading out to enjoy our day. The gardens are impeccably maintained and fun to walk around and discover new things. The villa is centrally located on the island and it makes it so easy to travel. Thank you, Antonio…we hope to return someday soon to visit! Don’t hesitate to book the villa!

Perfect getaway oasis

Our stay at Antonio's place was a dream. It was quiet with a wonderful garden (and some lovely chickens!). Antonio was so welcoming and attentive to anything we needed. We 100% recommend this property to anyone looking for a quiet place to rewind after a busy day exploring the island

Beautiful island and accommodation

Wonderful stay at Antonio’s. He is so kind and caring! We loved his flat with morning chickens coming to greet us at our door! Lots of room in the flat and it is full of charm and authenticity.Antonio's is close to all of the islands attractions! Hope to return again some day!

Garden Villa Enjoyment

It may take a long review but I will try to be succinct. First, Antonio is exceptionally gracious and hospitable. He introduced my husband and I to food specific to Sao Miguel. Oh the bread, cheese and pineapple are delicious. Antonio was generous to stock the frig with milk, eggs, cheese, bread, pineapple, coffee, and other staples. He helped to guide us to shopping, dining, and touring in his community. Second, his home was like staying in a fairytale. The villa was beautiful and authentic to the culture. It was spacious. Much bigger than the pictures. Very clean and comfortable. It was stocked with all the necessities like being home. Lastly, the garden was beautiful and much larger than imagined. My husband and I enjoyed exploring the gardens, plants and trees. We chuckled with the baby chicks running around. In conclusion, my husband and I are so happy we stayed at this garden villa. With meeting Antonio, we feel we have a new friend or extended family in Sao Miguel. We definitely recommend this villa to friends, family, or anyone considering this VRBO option. Enjoy!

Paradise in Capelas

Vila Alegre was an absolute dream! Beautiful home w/ gorgeous gardens and a very kind host who is flexible and accommodating. All the comforts of home with beautifully curated antique furnishings made the home feel as special as it is. The ideal picture of a Portuguese Vila! We enjoyed staying here so much and was the perfect home base for all of our Sao Miguel adventures. Can't wait to return!

Beautiful place!

Antonio was so welcoming and gave us tons of tips on where to go in the Azores. The property had everything we needed from washer to dishwasher and he had left us local food to try after the long plane ride. The location was in a small town but we easily drove to destinations all over the island. And the garden is beautiful!

Wonderful Home

Antonio’s home was perfect in every way. The location was easy to drive to all parts of Sao Miguel. The apartment was larger than the photos show and fully equipped for all needs. Antonio was helpful, gracious and easy to contact if we had any questions. He greeted us with flowers from his beautiful garden and food from the Azores. I especially loved sitting in the sun room every morning with my coffee. Highly recommend!!

Perfect

A rare and beautiful location to call home for 11 days. We could easily spend another month here. We are here in February, Sao Miguel’s “deepest winter” but it was perfect. 16 to 18 degrees in a well loved garden with hundreds of flowers, trees, avocados, lemons and oranges. We will be back. It’s a great location to explore the entire island and the host took time with us to answer any questions and suggest options. Thank you Antonio

After years of hard work, my dream has become a reality and guests have begun to arrive from around the world and enjoy the comfort, beauty and serenity of Vila Alegre. Born and raised in São Miguel, I spend my days in Ponta Delgada where I run Casa de Sementes Serpa, a small seed and plant shop in the heart of the city that has been in my family for 85 years! Passionate about my island, I'm happy to share with you knowledge of its many hidden treasures. In addition to Portuguese, of course, I speak decent English and French and can provide guests with tours of the island if desired.

Sonhei durante muito tempo, fazer o restauro na casa (vila alegre), a antiga casa de verão da minha família, donde passei grande parte da minha infância. Depois de muitos anos de trabalho, o meu sonho tornou-se realidade. Os hóspedes têm chegado de todo o mundo para aproveitar o conforto, beleza e serenidade da Vila Alegre. Nascido e criado em São Miguel, passo os meus dias em Ponta Delgada na Casa de Sementes Serpa, uma loja de sementes e plantas no centro da cidade que tem sido da minha família há 85 anos! Adoro a minha ilha e gosto de compartilhar os tesouros dela. Fala não fluentemente inglês, francês e espanhol, e posso proporcionar passeios pela ilha.
