Charming downtown apartment!
We love Charleston's history, so staying in this Broad Street apartment in a 200+ year old building did not disappoint! It is quaint, well-appointed and very clean! It was also refreshing to have all paper products, soap, etc. supplied. We really lacked for nothing. It was a bit of a sad time to be in Charleston with several shops (including the straw market) and some restaurants closed and boarded up, but we still really enjoyed our stay and found the Mount Pleasant, Sullivan's Island and IOP area pretty normal. You really can walk everywhere from here and found enough open to keep us constantly on the move. Also HIGHLY recommend High Cotton for an amazing dining experience! Jan was a pleasure to work with. I highly recommend this property!
Thank you, Elysa, for your kind review. We are very fortunate to have retained most of our fine restaurants in the Old and Historic District. Our beautiful parks were the first to open after the corona threat and more and more restaurants that had closed have plans to continue reopening. Hope you will come back to visit.
Location excellent but properly a little lacking.
I already know I will be lambasted by the owners for this review based on other reviewers who haven’t given a 5 star rating. But this property, although ideally located, is no 5 star property. Yes it’s an historic building. But it needs a lot of updates and fixing up. Almost everything in it is worn and shabby. I don’t understand all these 5 star ratings. Bathrooms moldy in showers and luckily due to Covid we had our own bleach so we cleaned. . Curtains old, dusty and threadbare. Appliances very old although working. No real closets. Upholstered furniture could use some fresh slip covers or just replacing. When I see a 5 star rating I expect more. In fairness the owners do have a 5 star rating but I just don’t get it. The place IS spacious. But only one en-suite. Sometimes with old properties they just never look or feel clean and that was the case here. I respectfully disagree with the 5 star ratings.
5 Star Ratings are awarded to us because we are what we represent. We have historically uncovered original moldings and bead board walls for our guests who appreciate staying in a building with original 16 foot ceilings built in 1794. We are in a location second to none; most inns in our area charge upwards of $500-$600 for a room for two per night. Our furniture is not shabby; our curtains are not thread bare. Our apartments are quite clean. Let's just call it like it is. You are dishonest about moldy showers. I personally cleaned them with Tilex with clorox. You called us asking for help emptying your trash and that was done within the hour; why didn't you call about the apartment not being clean? In our copy and our pictures we make it a point that our kitchen is adequate, clean and in working order. Clearly you did not read our copy and look at our pictures, each with specific captions.
