Oh to live here would be heaven
Wow, Teri & Lauren's place is even nicer than it looks in the pictures - definitely exceeded our expectations! It was the perfect "get out of our house and quarantine in someone else's" option. Close to the DC area (~2 hour drive) and had the amenities we craved - especially the private pool. The house and grounds are immaculately maintained and the kitchen is super modern and well-appointed. The pool is heavenly - we took to spending hours at the pool, either floating, playing with the kids, or simply lounging beside it - easily my favorite feature.
Jenkins Creek wraps around the house on two sides and it was a beautiful backdrop, especially at night as we watched the sun set from the private dock. My daughter and I enjoyed the ping pong in the converted garage while my wife made early mornings on the screened-in porch her routine while we were there and our son lounged in the hot tub.
Location is superb - you feel secluded and private while you are there, but you are only 2 - 3 miles from downtown and some really good seafood. If you like beer, RAR is a local brewer right in town. We didn't get to experience much of downtown Cambridge due to COVID-19, but it looks like a fun place to explore. We did pick strawberries at Emily's ~15 minutes away, and also made our way to a beautiful drive-through wildlife refuge one morning. Walmart is ~15 minutes or so away as well, so you can stock up on food easily when you need it.
All in all, we cannot wait to come back to Baer Necessities. Teri and Lauren are superb hosts (even went out of their way to personally return the camera we forgot at the house) and did everything they could to make sure our stay was as good as possible. Thank you!
School break, long weekend, family relaxation time
This property is amazing! The beautifully manicured yard is large and provides a beautiful space to walk around and enjoy nature. The dock welcomes you to sit and relax by the water. Our kids loved the tetherball and huge tree that served as a fort. We all appreciated the idyllic pond and the calmness of the flowing water. This house is literally at the end of the road and allows you to feel secluded even though you aren't far away from town at all.
In the evening, we loved the sounds of the geese and what we thought was an owl. The main room made for a great family movie night with super comfortable couches. We were able to connect to Netflix! Teri and Lauren have provided pretty much everything you need to be comfortable. We even baked brownies for a warm dessert one evening. The ping pong table was a blast.
In the morning, our kids loved the wood paneled den where there are numerous books and DVDs waiting. It allowed for some mom and dad sleeping in time!
While we were in town, we visited the Harriet Tubman museums both in downtown Cambridge and south of the town near the Blackwater Refuge. Important history to share with the kids. We also spent time in the Blackwater Refuge seeing all sorts of animals like bald eagles and even a 5 foot long Eastern Black rat snake - yikes! While not too close, we also took the hour long drive to Assateague National Seashore to see the wild horses. Worth a trip and spent some time for lunch in the town of Berlin. On the way home, we stopped at the town of Saint Michaels and visited the maritime museum. Amazing place with lots to do for the kids.
Thanks to Teri and Lauren for opening their home for us to share! We made great memories that will last a lifetime!
A beautiful spot!
This home is a perfect blend of quiet beauty and opportunity for active pursuits. For relaxed dinners around the spacious dining room table overlooking the water to happy, lively restaurants with great food only a couple of miles away. The owners are kind, available for questions and clear with their instructions. We love it here!
Spacious, Modern Home on Jenkins Creek
Teri’s home was beyond our expectations! The photographs are accurate however don’t do this home & property justice. The living areas are spacious, modern and comfortable. There is more than enough seating for relaxing or eating for 8 plus the covered screened porch added an additional table and chairs for dining & just hanging out with stunning views of Jenkins Creek. The home includes 3 bedrooms with comfortable queen or twin beds, linens and 2 full bathrooms, including the private master bathroom with stand-up shower.
The chef’s kitchen was a delight - modern and well equipped with all the appliances, dish ware & cookware you could need. The fully stocked spice pantry was a pleasant surprise as was finding staples like oil, sugar & flour.
Although we couldn’t take advantage of the in-ground pool in mid-October, there is a hot tub for relaxing as well as chairs in a sunny spot near a pond or you could sit on the dock & enjoy incredible sunsets. There is no end of outdoor space to roam and enjoy.
Don’t hesitate to rent this charming home for your next vacation. You won’t be disappointed!
