Buchanan Lodge is a very special place for us. Jason was brought up in Dunedin, but spent many happy family holidays in Wanaka as a child, especially skiing at Treble Cone, which looks down on Roys Peninsula. After living in London and Tokyo for several years, marrying an English wife and starting a family, Jason decided it was time to put down his own roots in Wanaka. Having bought the land on which Buchanan Lodge sits in 2001, we commissioned an architect to design a family holiday home that would blend in with the surroundings and look as if it was a settlers' hut that had been there for years. We used reclaimed railway sleepers to create the lovely solid beams and the furnishings are in an English farmhouse style. The lodge was completed in 2005, and we have spent many happy holidays there with family and friends - enjoying the peace and being surrounded by nature. We now live between London and Sydney, with 3 teenage children, so sadly, we can only get out to the lodge once or twice a year, but it seems a shame to let such a beautiful house sit empty for the rest of the year - so we are happy to rent it out to other families, so they too can share the magic of this beautiful spot.
