We were really pleased with the clean and well-furnished Walnut House during our 1 week stay in Bar Giyyora in the hills between Jerusalem and Bet Shemesh. The HaLevy's have done a magnificent job, renovating an original Moshav (circa 1950) residence into the rental while building their own home there. The property includes a well architected garden, playground, trampoline, swim-pool, and some chickens and friendly dogs (who I am sure kept mountain critters at bay). The 2bedroom, 2bath apt. with full kitchen, ample living room, covered porch with patio furniture fit our needs perfectly. Hardwood (heated!) floors throughout, with good hot water supply and room heaters made for a comfortable visit during the cool season. We were visiting our daughter's family in Bet Shemesh which was easily accessible by car (15min.) with the bonus of a scenic (and exciting!) drive down or up the mountain highway, or taxi (60NIS one way). We got our value of the The Walnut House when we brought our 3 grand-daughters (ages 2-6) and found kid-friendly toys in the apartment, DVDs, but mostly play space in the garden, especially the trampoline. Fenced property added to safety and the dogs were good companions. The kitchen was ample for preparing and serving several meals for 3-4 adults, and the 3 children. Our hosts were friendly and very responsive to questions and requests contributing to our peace of mind and overall enjoyment of our stay.
