Recent Alexandra Resort Reviews

Great Location, Great Price

4 of 5
This was my first trip to TCI. I booked this room through VROB because it was substantially less than booking through the resort. Linda was great to work with on the booking process. When I arrived at the airport, I got the shuttle to the Alexandra. I think it was $28 for myself and 6 year old child. It was about a 15 minute ride with 2 other stops before mine. Linda had given me the room number and left the door open. It was easy to find and nice inside. She had left a cell phone for me to use while I was there. That was a nice bonus because I did not upgrade to the international plan on my personal phone. The Internet was an issue and I had no service in the room, but Linda resolved that within 1 day. Then it was sufficient to send and receive emails in the room. I had read reviews about VROB renters not being allowed to use the chairs by the pool. I am a rule follower and intended to follow that rule, but I could not. There was no where else to sit and I did not want to sit on the concrete because there were ants. There were 2 blue towels in the room which looked like the "resort" towels, so I just pretended to be a resortee and no one ever said a word. I did order food and drinks at the pool, so I felt somewhat justified. There were plenty of empty chairs and no "resort guest" went without. I hope this issue can be resolved between the VROB renters and the resort because it was the only hiccup. The food was good and the prices were OK (I expected them to be high). The staff was not very friendly at the resort. But I can overlook that since I wasn't technically at the resort. The room had a washer and dryer and laundry detergent. There were a good amount of American TV stations, the kitchen was sufficient for me. There was a cooler if needed for the beach. THis room is right off the pool area, so it was handy for taking my 6 year old to the pool. We had lizzards and creatures on the patio most of the day - which was good entertainment for my child. There were no bugs in the room!! which was a surprise, given how many were outside. The owners must keep this place sprayed. I've been to many top beaches in the world and was excited about seeing this one. My first impression was not good because on arrival day - the beach was covered with seaweed. The seaweed was much improved in the coming days ad we swam in the water with great viability.
