Beautiful home with all the amenities, but . . .

This was a beautiful place to stay. The owner/management has done a wonderful job providing all the amenities necessary from toiletries in the bath to a well-stocked/supplied kitchen, beach towels, and linens. The home was very clean, well maintained and immaculate, which is a very important issue to us. The outdoor living area was absolutely wonderful and resort-like. And the location is excellent to grocery stores/shopping, and restaurants. Why not a 5 star? THE CAMERAS ON THE INSIDE OF THE HOUSE, in the living room/kitchen/dining area and hallway. This was a shock (and at $325/night, an insult to us) when we saw them, and would have prevented us from renting the home if we had known in advance. Although we have nothing to hide, and kept the home clean and very well-maintained during our stay, such invasion of privacy was disconcerting and uncomfortable to have not knowing when we were being watched or even possibly listened to. (And these were the obvious cameras. I don't know if there were others undetectable in other rooms?) As a former owner of a vacation rental beach home in the southeast, this would have never been tolerated by my tenants nor my management company to have such cameras in my home while being rented. We fully understand the necessity of the OUTDOOR security cameras, but putting such cameras in the living areas INSIDE was very invasive. The home is supplied with motion sensors, which should suffice for security if anyone got past the many outdoor cameras and locked doors and broke into the house. If this lack of privacy or personal invasiveness does not bother you, it would be an enjoyable house to rent.
