Wonderful cabin, excellent hosts

5 of 5
Debbie and Chris have created a beautiful cabin with fine woodwork and everything we needed. Located on a charming tidal cove, it is sweet to sit and relax there. The cabin is completely comfortable and a fine place to settle in and enjoy yourselves in this quiet, sylvan settling. Debbie and Chris have thought of guests' every need, and have provided 4 kayaks, and 2 paddle boards. The location is just on the border of Tenants Harbor, which is a beautiful small village with a lobster persons' coop and dockside informal restaurant. We enjoyed our stay so much at Debbie and Chris' cabin that we will be back again soon. We recommend it and them completely.

A Perfect Blend of Rustic and Civilized

5 of 5
We loved our stay at Fish House. It’s a small, single-bedroom house, so it’s not huge, but that was perfect for my wife and me, since it was just the two of us. More importantly, it’s simply beautiful. The house itself is really nice, with high quality finishes throughout, a very comfortable bed, a terrific recliner to kick back and read or draw in, a comfy loveseat, and a small but perfectly functional kitchen. The house is full of light as there are windows on all sides, and the picture window that looks out onto the property and down into the bay is amazing. I spent plenty of time just standing and staring out that window, looking for birds or just soaking in nature’s grandeur. We also walked down and sat on the bay a few times. From there, using the provided binoculars, we spotted a heron, an osprey and a couple of seals. Seals! As mentioned in the property details online, the Fish House is right next door to the owner’s home. I just want to reassure anyone who might be worried about privacy that it was not an issue whatsoever. Chris and Bill are lovely, considerate hosts. They never intruded upon our visit in any way. We did bump into them a few times and they were always super friendly and nice, and full of great suggestions for things to do in the area. And the area really does offer a ton of stuff to do and great places to eat. We visited the Farnsworth Museum in Rockland, which we really enjoyed. We took a boat ride to Monhegan Island, which was beautiful. We took a kayak tour in Camden State Park that was wonderful. (NOTE: If you want to kayak in the bay at the Fish House, you can rent kayaks, but I recommend you call a rental place early in your trip — we found kayaks get booked up quickly.) We ate amazing lobster rolls at McLoons Lobster Shack and had terrific meals at Hearth and Francine Bistro, just to name a few. And all of this was within easy driving distance, often only a half hour away. This was our first trip to Maine, and we absolutely loved it. Staying at Fish House was the perfect introduction to the area for us. It was a terrific blend of rustic and civilized. We were able to relax and be in nature, but also go out and do stuff when we wanted. I wholeheartedly recommend Fish House.
