The vacation rental was spotless.

This is a fantastic location close to Newberry Street and the Hynes T station. The apartment was great for what we needed: clean, great location, reasonable rates, and good for 2 adults. There is a washer / dryer that is not listed, and bring your own hair dryer as not provided. Also, the listing says it sleeps 4; there is one queen bed. Other accomodations may be available but that would be in the living room with no privacy. That said, city life is noisy and impersonal. The unit borders a public alley that has significant foot, car, and truck traffic at all hours. Also, the Swank app is sexy and interesting, but it’s more style over substance. Two examples: I had arranged for a 4pm check in. No email or text providing the lockbox code came by 4:10, so I called. Calling for assistance (bc the building door key isn’t cooperating) doesn’t ensure a call back, and certainly not a fast call back. And without a reliable external door key, it’s difficult to leave the unit, causing us to cancel dinner reservations and plans with friends that night. The answering service is very polite and will repeat all of your information, but it’s impossible to get a live person at Swank on the phone. Last tip: it took them 11 days to refund my $250 deposit. Other tenants were in and out and still, no refund. I’m guessing (since I could not get a Swank employee on the phone, ever) they establish automatic transactions so many days post rental.
Great location close to airport and ALL downtown hot spots!
This was our first time visiting Boston and we enjoy walking throughout new cities we visit. This place was perfect as far as location....not right downtown but in trendy Southport area. We were a 10 minute walk into the Financial district, and 2 minutes from the subway; just perfect. The unit itself is very clean and has excellent amenities. The gym / common areas were a nice touch. The only reason I'm not giving this place 5 starts is because we found there was many things in the kitchen that were missing -- the bare basics that visitors can't really buy for the week or so they are staying; like cooking oil/spray, salt and pepper, and food wrap. Those would have been very useful. We also arrived after a long day of flying from western Canada and there was only less than half a roll of toilet paper left for us with no spares. We don't expect rolls to last all stay, but enough to get us through one day would have been sufficient. Just little suggestions that I know will make the next persons' stay more comfortable. The owner/manager were incredible to deal with and super friendly. They were prompt with answering questions leading up to out stay, and after our stay, and we'd be happy to stay here again based on that. :)
