              Recent Captain's Cove Reviews

              Great place to get away

              5 of 5
My family visited the last week in August. The views of Chincoteague Bay are amazing! We felt instantly relaxed as soon as we arrived. Captain's Cove resort itself was a quiet, friendly community. Having the covered porch was great for the days that it rained, and the clubhouse pool came in handy on those days too ($4/day or $10/week, and free for age 5 and younger). There was a also a playground that we didn't take advantage of. The house itself was perfect for our family and felt upscale. It was also clean and had all of dishware and appliances we needed for the week. John the owner was very helpful and responded quickly via email whenever I had questions. The beach is a short trip (~20-25 minutes) to Chincoteague State Park. There is plenty of other things to do such as hiking, bird-watching, pony-watching, visiting Tom's Cove vistor's center, the lighthouse and NASA Wallops Visitor Center. Make sure you stop at the Island Creamery! We're looking forward to our next trip.

Older home that could use some updates.

              4 of 5
Minor issues which were addressed pretty quickly. Older home that could use some updates - some outlets did not work, light bulbs burned out, only one tv in entire house (1 bedroom did have a tv in it, but the outlet did not work so we could not use it), freezer ice machine was either turned off or turned down as we could only get about 12 cubes a day, front door lock was a little tricky to lock/unlock but we mastered that after several tries, only 1 of 3 vacuums worked and then it was only the hose that worked. Did feel as though house did not get a thorough cleaning prior to our stay, or it had been a few weeks since last renter was there since we needed to wipe down counters in kitchens and bathroom sinks. But the view of the Bay was amazing!! Thank you for the opportunity to stay . . .would definitely stay at Serenity Now again!
