We stayed here November 3 - 9, 2018. We wanted to visit Oahu to see Pearl Harbor and chose to stay on the North Shore after talking to a few people. I spent hours looking at different properties & I kept coming back to this one. We did visit Pearl Harbor but spent most of our time relaxing & enjoying the views at this amazing property. Everything you need is here, especially if you like to be away from all the crowds. The view is spectacular & we made a game out of how many rainbows we saw every day. There are tide pools right between you & the ocean with fish swimming in them. We'd walk out there each day to see what was new. There are beaches on either side of you that you can swim in, take a walk or just watch all the surfers. There were 3 sea turtles on the beach all day & multiple sea turtles swimming in the surf on the beach 2 minutes away. We met Stu & he was super nice. Gave us great advise on some places to go & places to eat. We would definitely recommend this place to anyone going to Oahu, especially if you are looking for somewhere away from all the crowds of the city & touristy places. You are still close enough to drive down & spend the day or half a day site seeing but then can come back for less traffic & people on the north shore. We bought stuff at Costco & the neighborhood store to cook at our place plus ate out at different places in Haleiwa. We had been to Maui 5 years ago & loved it so much we wanted to come back. We went to Oahu first with another couple, planning to enjoy Maui after. But, after our stay here, we wished we would have rented this place for the entire two weeks! We hope to be back some day soon!
We loved the place. We rode our mountain bikes every morning along the trails in the Pupukea Forest Reserve, which start just a couple house lots up the road. It was so nice having a large garage where we could park our car and store our bikes and gear. The outdoor shower was wonderful when we came home covered in mud from the trails or sand from the beach. The kitchen had plenty of cooking supplies and space for making meals. The interior was well designed and laid out, though be aware it's all one room except the bathroom. There's no air conditioning, but it stayed cool enough at night with windows open and ceiling fans on. We did have to use our car to get to the beach as the road down is windy and has no shoulder or sidewalk, but it was an OK trade-off for us since we wanted to be close to the trails and explore different beaches anyway. Burt is a generous and helpful host who will share his bounty of avocados and citrus fruit, as well as boogie boards, snorkel gear, towels, and local info. No complaints at all! The neighbors dogs would sometimes bark late at night or early in the morning, but it rarely lasted long enough to bother us. Thanks Burt for a great stay!
