  • Quaint and comfortable

This sweet cabin felt like grandmothers house. A tad outdated but warm and comfy. We thoroughly enjoyed a bonfire with friends on a cool, crisp night. We fished on the lake which is just across the street. We appreciated the free pass to Swallow Falls State Park which is right down the road. The gas grill was handy for us grilling enthusiasts. We had a problem getting the living room tv to work but the owner called us and guided us through the troubleshooting process and low and behold, the previous tenants had left the VCR on ! The kitchen was well stocked with everything needed to prepare meals. There are 2 coffee pots, a drip and a Keurig. The beds are firm but comfortable. Having a washer and dryer was handy but bring your own detergent as it was not provided. A previous tenant said it was in their comments but it was probably left by a previous tenant. No big deal because Walmart is only 6 miles away on Garret Highway! The couch is comfortable as long as you sit down gently. Don’t plop down ! The cabin was clean and surprisingly no pet odors as we have no dogs but they are allowed. The hot tub was clean and ready to enjoy ! There were 4 of us so toilet paper and paper towels were gone by the middle of the week but there’s Walmart so no big deal. There is a water dispenser in the kitchen but an empty bottle in it so I suggest bringing bottled water as there is a very strong metal (iron) taste. The only con was no covered porch to sit under during the rainy days but that’s not the owners fault and it clearly shows in the pics no porch, I just never gave it a thought. I really liked the fact that every room had separate thermostats as some like it cold, some like it hot ! There’s also plenty of box fans in the closet for those of us who enjoy a fan blowing on them at night! All in all it’s a great cabin for the price ! We thoroughly enjoyed the area and there’s lots to see and do. There are black bears in the area but sad I didn’t see one but as the owner states, don’t leave food out and put trash in the bear proof containers, I imagine that includes food in your vehicle ! P.S. It’s about a 2 hour drive but worth seeing and that’s Smoke Hole Caverns in West Virginia, there’s a lot of history there with the Native Americans and Civil War Soldiers !
