The house is settled in a quiet neighborhood but close enough to the beach and shops. The home is comfortable with great living space. Very well appointed kitchen, super deck in the back of the house. Parking in the yard is so convenient. Bedrooms on the small side but adequate with very comfortable beds. Could use one full length mirror somewhere in the house. Bathroom is of good size, great shower; just the mirror above the sink is too far recessed and not convenient to use. Overall, loved the house great living volumes, we would book it again.

From the minute that we walked into this home we knew that our stay in France was going to be a pleasurable one. For us, coming from overseas, there is the worry that we have selected a bad area or that the home is not really as nice as it appears in the photos. This was the opposite. The home is stunningly situated in a small, quiet hamlet 10 minutes outside of Coutance. The garden patio is exquisite, the home has ample room to satisfy children of all ages, and as an added bonus it is a 10 minute drive to the ocean. Coutance is everything you can imagine and more. The city itself has a handsome set of cathedrals. This is a popular attraction and we ate many times at the local cafes near it. Coutance also has several local shoppes that have gorgeous apparel, jewelry, meats, cheeses, and baked goods. For those of us who are accustomed to one stop shopping like walmart, the home is a 10 minute drive from an E. LeClerc. Tip to our fellow Americans, nothing is open on Sunday. Shop early and be prepared. As the home is centrally located between Coutance and any number of seaside villages, I want to speak to the simple beauty and charm of these areas. First, mussels and mussel farming are a part of this culture. It is unreal (for this farmgirl from Indiana) to see a John Deere tractor driving into the ocean, and yet here it is normal. At low tide you will see the 100's of mussel habitats and appreciate all that they do in this area to keep their traditions and the conservation of this species. If you are inclined, you can walk out nearly 3 miles at low tide. The sea becomes a glass reflecting the glory of the area. We can recommend a small shack of a restaurant that has the most AMAZING mussels on the planet. It is in Blainville and is called La Calle. It looks like something that a vagrant would live in, but my god the mussels are next world and nothing short of divine. If it is not open, take heed, the place across the street from it is not as good and overpriced (we made this mistake). Follow this with a trip 3 miles up the road to Agnon-Coutainville for a gelato in the square (it is in the center of the village, you will see it). Also in this square, you will find a number of little bistros that serve great food! We stayed nearly 5 weeks and gladly would have stayed the rest of our lives. There is a certain kind of peace here that settles your soul and the calm is heartening. My young child said it best, "It is just wonderful." -Bonne Journee
