We (two senior intrepid travellers and college friends) recently stayed in this apartment and loved it. First, we were not expecting hot weather in September but we got it and the A/C in this apartment was fabulous. When we returned to the apartment after a hot afternoon at the beach, we issued a collective AWWWW when we entered the apartment before opening a bottle of Sardinian Vermentino. Once the heat of the day had passed, we spent some lovely hours on the large balcony, particularly while watching the sun set over Capo Caccia. You get the same sunset view from this apartment that you get from many of the highly touted restaurants/bars in Alghero.
The location of the apartment is perfect for both beach lovers and those that want to partake of the best of the old town of Alghero. We found the walk to the old town to be a very pleasant 15 minute walk along the wonderful seaside promenade that brings you right to the walls of the old town. As it is relatively flat, we found it easy to make multiple walks into town each day.
The beach is about two short blocks from the apartment and it is a lovely sandy beach with shallow and warm water. You can walk up and down the beach for several miles (with some little interruptions) with lots of beach bars/restaurants to provide sustenance. We walked almost all of the way down the beach to Fertilia and found that the beaches at the north end were even better than the beaches close to Alghero.
The apartment was perfect for us (two single women) but it would be equally perfect for two couples travelling together or a family with a couple of children. There are two good sized double bedroom and two equally spacious bathrooms. All of the apartment amenities are up-to-date and immaculate. We even got a couple of English language stations on the television which was something that we had NOT found in any of the other apartments we had rented in Sardinia.
Margherita, who welcomed us to the apartment, was lovely and wanted us to enjoy our stay. When we had some problems accessing the internet (due to our own misunderstanding), she came back to help us and thereafter we had excellent internet connections with our families in Canada.
We loved Alghero! It is a walled town which is intimate enough to enjoy on foot. We walked the walls and explored the little "streets" that make up the town. We had great meals and particularly enjoyed the paella that we had on the walls while watching the sun set.
