  • Our stay at Villa del Bono was remarkable.

The home is spectacular with more room than our party of 16 ever needed and furnished with amazing antiques and surrounded by thousands of books, some dating back 200 years. The ceilings in the main home were breathtaking, as was much of the art, some dating to the 14th century. It was a bit like being invited to stay in a historic house museum. The park like setting was quiet and relaxing, punctuated only by the ringing of the nearby church bell. No traffic noise or other human noise pollution. The view down the tree lined drive is impressive matched by the view of the distant mountains out the back and side of the home. The pool is enormous and well cared for. Our host met us in Milano and led us to the villa and stayed to show us each room and generously shared the history of the home and his family. He went the extra mile by returning the following day with a crib for the youngest member of our party. Pietro even invited us to visit his family at another of the family’s villas later in the week. He was a remarkable host. The onsite staff were there when needed and the catering and housekeeping he arranged were outstanding. Giulia is an excellent chef and was there for early morning breakfasts as well as preparing gourmet dinners on request. Our biggest challenge was negotiating the speed bumps on the very long drive way in our low ground clearance car we had rented while the other larger vehicles in our party did fine. The house is a bit of a time capsule, with the baths dating to the 1950s, so don’t expect the latest bath design but all were fully functional. Charles WIlson

  • Gorgeous estate, convenient location

We highly recommend staying at Poggio Verde. The home is spacious and beautiful, with every amenity we needed for a restful stay. The secluded hilltop setting offered a stunning view of the surrounding area, a large private patio, grill, and gazebo, and a large pool. We did our grocery shopping in the town 5 minutes away and went out for gelato to two different shops in nearby towns. We ventured out during the days about one hour in every direction for hikes, lakes, “canyoning”, castles, and Milan, not to mention the beautiful drives along the way. Gretchen and her staff were so attentive and personal, offering tips and suggestions for every aspect of our stay.
