What will you miss the most after you leave ? The view of the ocean 24/7 Did you like the kitchen and amenities, for example, or the cushy bed ? The kitchen and amenities were perfect, I had all of the utensils to cook my meals for the two months I lived there. The bed was comfortable. Was the view relaxing, the sunsets and sunrises spectacular? The sunrises were amazing to wake up to. The sun sets were not visible from our apartment. Did you enjoy the ocean sounds, lounging on the lanai, swim in the pool ? The pool was nice and clean. The ocean sounds were relaxing. Nice sized lanai to read a book on. What were your favorite things nearby ? Carlsmith beach, Richardson beach Did you enjoy the Farmers Markets ? The bigger farmers markets are on Wednesdays and Saturday's. The market is open every day of the week and is great to get your produce at. What were your favorite restaurants nearby ? Cafe pesto was the best Italian food, the Santa Fe pasta was delicious there. I also loved Mo's fish and chips. For ice cream I loved Kozmic Cones. For smoothie bowls go to the Makani's magic pineapple shack or Kula Shaved Ice. For shaved ice, go to either Kula Shaved Ice or Big Island Shaved Ice. For smoothies, or frappes go to Cruisin Coffee. Did you go to any shows, or gardens, or fabulous parks ? Our favorite park was the Narnia Waterfalls. Did you enjoy the coqui chorus singing you to sleep ? The coqui sounds did not bother my sleep. I personally like hearing outdoor noises at night. Did you take a ride to view the lava ? How was that show ? I went to the new black sand beach, but the lava is no longer flowing. Was I helpful and informative as a host ? Very helpful. Would you refer friends to stay at my condo ? Yes, great spot to stay on vacation or travel nursing.

Our stay in John and Christine's beautiful Oasis was wonderful. The area they have set aside to share with others is huge, several rooms, very large shower, cute kitchen area. we learned a lot from our stay there. first was that, we really missed the sound of coqui frogs, (laughs) can't help but love the sounds of those little buggers. Even though the power is turned off each night at 10:30 pm, we adapted very easily into their schedule, honestly, I enjoyed the time disconnected from it all. John and Christine are very open, friendly and live a life most people would love to step into. And second, on a more serious note, we are refugees from Leilani Estates, our home lost to Fissure 8, Aka "Big Daddy #8. I spent a lot of time at night staring at the glow of lava as it lite up the night skies on the other side of Hilo, was in awe most of the time as I would watch that huge fissure crank up each evening seeming bigger than life (I found this experience to be very healing). Even though this has impacted so many lives, ours included, this was one of the best locations for my husband and I to return to as we continue on with our next chapter of our story. If you desire friendly and helpful people, a moment in time to unplug from it all for even just a little while, and a beautiful view of the land, sea and yes, lava, then this is it. This oasis is clean, quiet and very welcoming. A home away from home. Thank you Christine & John for opening up your bit of paradise to share with others. from mine to yours with much love.
