  • Good base for Nottingham visit

We were a little put off on arriving at the house. The whole road was lined with wheelie bins taking up all the pavement. We were also very concerned with the steps leading to the entrance. There is a large slab which has moved and had a large gap and also moved when stood on. This really does need to be rectified and the garden could also have a little bit of attention as it is rather overgrown. The key pad entry worked well. First impressions were that the property looked clean and tidy. There was a shower room as you enter on the right hand side. There are steep stair cases leading to the other floors. The kitchen was clean and well equipped had plenty of crockery and glasses etc. It was also pleasing that there was coffee tea sugar available for use. The most frustrating item in the kitchen was the fridge freezer, the doors either needs to reversed or the unit turned round and situated on the adjoining wall. You just could not open the door and get into the fridge easily. Also the sink tap needs to be tightened up. The kitchen could have an extra tv as we had to use the sitting room as a bedroom and as the bed were made up already we were unable to use it as a living room. The next floor had two bedrooms and the bathroom and the final set of stairs which lead to another two bedrooms. All the beds were made up with clean white linen and each bed had a nice soft white hand and bath towel. The beds were very comfortable although the sofa beds in the sitting room were not as good. The first floor bathroom was nice and clean and functional. However the lower floor shower room was although clean needed a bit of TLC and could do with a new shower door/enclosure. We did have one small problem when the electrics tripped out. One of our party was in the shower and ended having a cold shower! However it soon rectified when a nice young lady came in a matter of minutes and reset the fuse box. All in all we enjoyed our stay. There are a lot of takeaways and convenience stores with 5 minutes walk and the house was very convenient for our stay. It would have been useful if there was an information manual for the house users. Thank you for our stay.

Staying at the Corner House is one of my most cherished experiences on a recent trip to the UK. It is a very special house.
