This was our second time at what is truly a villa...think Tuscan villa...where high quality finishes abound. Walled off from the street, you enter though a locked door into a private front courtyard, suitable for parking your car (we didn't have one). Inside the home, you will find a sumptuous marble stair case, with half-bath at the entry foyer, leading to a fully-functional high end kitchen, a spacious living room and a secluded rear yard, with beautiful wood doors and finishes along the way. Up the marble stairway, you will find a completely private, large master suite with king bed, beautifully and generously furnished with an ensuite full bath and walk-in closet. Off the upper hall, there is also a second large bedroom with a pair of twin beds, another full bath, and a sizeable laundry/utility/supply room. Settle in and enjoy this private, protected home that is easily accessible to the quaint, narrow cobblestone streets of the Ajijic village.
The pictures do not do justice to how special this place is. This wonderful island of peace and quiet is only 4 blocks to the main street of the village and one block to the malecon. It has enough room to invite friends as we did. They stayed in the Casita and were as comfortable as we were in the main house.
We particularly like the large electric gates that allowed easy access and egress for the car that we rented...DO NOT rent a car at the airport. Taking a cab from the airport is really cheap and worth the price. We rented a car from S&S Auto between Ajijic and Chapala. They were wonderful, the car was great, and it was half the price for twice the time that we paid for a similar car rented from the airport during an earlier stay.
The garden is absolutely beautiful (a total oasis) with singing birds and hummingbirds enjoying the flowers as much as we did. And coming home after riding horses and taking a dip in the pool was absolutely delightful.
If you are in the mood for the best rack of ribs ever, try Gosha's Restaurant on the Carraterra. And the best hamburger was found at La Media Luna slightly to the east of the main square towards the entrance to the main church and just past the ice cream shop on the corner of the square. And Black Coffee across the street from Wal Mart has better (and far cheaper) frappes than Starbucks.
