The property is gorgeous! You feel like you are in “Honey I shrunk the kids”...the leaves and foliage were larger than our kiddos heads! Max was beyond helpful and is the type of guy that makes you feel at home. He was not only knowledgeable about his country, but about the birds and wildlife that surround the bungalow. We did have excursions booked, but upon arrival we cancelled and went with max’s suggestions and he did not disappoint. The bungalow makes you feel at one with the surroundings and was the exactly what we wanted to wake up to and come home to each day! Our children were sad to leave and I will forever remember the sounds I heard each morning while enjoying my tea on our front porch...pura vida❤️

I'd definitely rate the property of Villa Hermosa 5 stars. Getting there at night was a little adventure, with the last 10 minutes on very rough road, but the directions were accurate and we arrived to a little slice of paradise. The grounds are like a tropical arboretum, with lots of trees/flowers, a beautiful swimming pool, and clean living spaces. We loved the indoor/outdoor feel, as it allowed you to feel connected to the nature and beauty of the Costa Rican flora and fauna, but also allowed us to retreat to the air conditioned bedroom and large bathroom/shower in the main villa. We also enjoyed some evening pool matches in the game room! There is a stone pedestal just beyond the covered outdoor living space for putting compost, which was a magnet for all types of birds. One of my favorite things was waking up around sunrise, brewing a cup of coffee, then sitting and watching the birds. We saw numerous species of birds, but the highlight was probably seeing the many toucans that flew around the property. Using our flashlights, we were also able to spot and photograph the nocturnal and iconic red-eyed tree frogs on the plants above the little frog pond. In terms of activities, I highly recommend getting a two-day adventure pass for the nearby Springs Resort. The resort guests pay $800+/night, but you can enjoy the incredible property for fractions of that price! We used our first day to experience Club Rio, with an amazing horseback-riding experience and personalized nature sanctuary guide. We got up close with the sloths and toucans and were so impressed with our Costa Rican guide Jonathan. The second day we experienced the hot spring pools, both next to the Arenal River set amidst the jungle, as well as the ones closer to the hotel. We also enjoyed the swim-up bar with Volcan Arenal as the backdrop! The owner, Judah was very helpful and responsive via e-mail/WhatsApp, but our impression was that he'd be in the area to help if needed, which wasn't the case for us. We had one issue with our rental SUV, booked through Judah, which required some time to work through. Gerardo at Alamo was really great at helping us out though. We also booked a rafting trip through Judah, but when we showed up they had us booked on the next day on a different trip. Flexibility is important, which we realize, but since Judah really promotes his services, this was a little surprising. All in all, we had a great stay at Villa Hermosa. Pura Vida!
