As shown in the photos, this home is beautifully decorated and spacious with everything you need while staying there (and then some). The hosts, Antonio and Ana, went above and beyond to make our experience a memorable one. Gorgeous Falesia Beach is only a short walk from the villa and if you like to walk the beach this is the beach to stay near. Just across the road you have a great coffee shop/restaurant, a travel agent for local tours, a convenience store and more. A five minute walk will bring you to a grocery store for most of your needs. We traveled by train from Lisbon and did not rent a car, but found that UBER and taxis were quick and economical. Wonderful place to spend our time while at the Algarve.
There are many positives about this property and only a few negatives, some of which wouldn't be issues for other people or in better weather. The villa is in the Balaia Golf Resort, one of the nicest and prettiest resorts around. Beautifully landscaped grounds. There are 6 pools and they are all different shapes and sizes. Unfortunately for us, in mid-April they were freezing. colder than the ocean. The one heated outdoor pool wasn't very warm and it was difficult to use with our small kids (10 mos and 3 yrs) because it was 6 feet deep. We had to hang on side with one arm and support kids with the other. In warmer weather the other pools could be used and they all had small kid-friendly shallow ends. There is an indoor heated pool, but kids under 4 aren't welcome and you have to pay 2EU per person to use it. The beach is walking distance (800 m) from the villa and it is a gorgeous. Although only about 150 meters long, it has soft sand, no commercialism and fabulous views. The bar on the beach has amazing seafood and wonderful staff. We loved it. There are some nice restaurants about a 10 min walk and many more a short inexpensive taxi ride away. The resort Reception area is well staffed and booked taxis for us. We were glad we weren't closer to Old Town or New Town. Those areas are noisy, congested and touristy. The villa is in a much nicer and prettier area. We had 4 adults and 2 small children. There were many taxi vans available that provided 2 car seats and room for all of us, so getting into town was easy. Word of warning, the main restaurant at the resort has terrible food. It's pricey and inedible. We didn't try the restaurant at the golf course. The bar at the golf course was nice. It doesn't stay open late. If you want any nightlife you need to go into Old or New Town or to bar at the beach. The villa was beautiful and modern. It has wonderful patios with tables on both sides, so you can dine outside in AM on East side and in PM on the West side. We had lousy weather so we couldn't use those much. Villa layout is odd. There is no couch downstairs. Only couch area is upstairs, which our senior citizen had difficulty getting to. Kitchen had everything you need. Lots of towels were provided. Beds weren't too comfortable. Internet was slow & dropped a lot. TV service was average. Master shower was dangerously slippery but cool.Kids used it as pool.Kids toys for beach and indoors were greatly appreciated. Beach chairs/umbrella provided.
