There were 8 of us all turning 70! We have been friends since high school. The Pickford House met all our needs. Everyone had their own bedroom and bath. Although the restaurants in Cambria were fabulous, it was so nice that we could get up leisurely and sit around visiting with coffee and not be rushed to get out and get breakfast. The kitchen was fabulous. We were able to have most meals in, and the bar was a fun place to create cocktails and visit. The fall decorations added to the warm, cozy feeling. Marcie left us 10 lbs. of candy to hand out to trick or treaters, which was so much fun. All in all it was a wonderful time!
The Big Red House is one of those things you want to keep secret so it's available when you want to go again, because surely you will want to go again. It's decorated as if it is someone's home rather than a rental with lovely pieces of art and furniture and for that reason you will respect it. I walked to the beach easily and to the boardwalk on wonderful Moonstone Bay. And my husband particularly loved sitting on the back patio with the interesting sculpture pieces. Only 3 days and I hated to leave. Elaine was easy to communicate with, friendly, courteous, and a gracious host. Winner, winner, winner--even better than the photos! View of the Pacific from upstairs and downstairs is spectacular and two decks for wine and coffee drinking and viewing, am and pm.
