  • Perfect location! Beautiful view!!
    5 of 5

We were so pleased with our stay at this beautiful place! Our family gets very little time together. We were able to just hang out without feeling cramped. Those who wanted to were able to walk to the beach. Those who wanted to just admire it from the house could, as you can see the ocean from the living room and the beautiful patios. The hot tub was heated and ready for use. We were able to cook our meals in the nicely done kitchen with all new appliances. There was plenty of room to park. Thank you for having us! We would love to be able to stay again.

  • Loved the Clam Hut & La Selva Beach!
    5 of 5

We spent a week (Wed - Wed) at the Clam Hut. This cozy property was exactly what we were expecting. It's in a quiet location with ample parking (even on the weekend). The beds were comfortable and clean. The full kitchen and propane grill on the balcony allowed for dine-in meals. The view from the balcony was perfect for dolphin and whale watching. Sunsets and the night sky were beautiful over the Pacific. The beach itself was much longer than anticipated. We were able to take hour-long walks in either direction and could've continued much farther had there been dune buggy service for the return trip! The staircase leading to/from the beach is steep and is a good way to stretch out your calves and ankles after those long walks on the sand. We were fortunate to have our visit in July. The morning fog burned off around 11 a.m., and the beach was uncrowded. Lots of sand dollars wash up along this beach, as well as a wide variety of seaweed and large jellyfish. At the time of our visit, a small whale had also washed up. It was fascinating to study the way barnacles attach themselves to the fins and tail and to see some of the bones of a creature that one usually only catches a glimpse of out at sea. La Selva Beach offers interesting items at the tide line, as well as a relaxing, uncrowded, clean-sand beach. Perfectly awesome place to spend a week! If you plan to travel the coast during your stay, Capitola (active beach town & body surfing) and Santa Cruz (Boardwalk & Giant Dipper roller coaster) are easy day trips. Head the other direction for Monterey (Cannery Row, aquarium & scuba) and Point Lobos (tidepools & coastal trails). Having our home base at the Clam Hut was wonderful, and we highly recommend the Clam Hut to anyone who wants a relaxing beach vacation!
