I was satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental.
Overall, I recommend this vacation rental.
We enjoyed our stay and exploration of the Gulf Shores area very much. Loved the location in Morgantown, access to the beach and ability to walk the beach with our dog. The house we stayed at needs some tender loving care with a few maintenance issues, especially for the shower leaks in the master bath, which has been listed in previous reviews, and under the kitchen sink. The Gulf Shores area provided us with a wonderful experience of recreation (especially golf), dining and service experiences and site seeing. Looking forward to our return to the area to enjoy many of those same experiences and more that we couldn't get to because of time.
The "Salty Dog" is located in the gated community of "DeSoto Landing" on Dauphin Island, providing unparalleled security, safety, and serenity.
Access to pool and private beach front are minutes from the front door. To the west of DeSoto Landing is unspoiled beach with no development. We entertained family and friends easily in the 4 bedroom, 3.5 bath home, and enjoyed the multiple decks, both covered, open, and screened. Home actually has (2) master bedroom suites with full bathrooms. Satellite TV and WIFI, fully equipped kitchen, brand new Samsung washer and dryer, full complement of beach chairs and bikes made our month at Dauphin Island easy and enjoyable. We found Skinner's Seafood (1.1 mile away) to be a primo supplier of fresh caught seafood. For guests that flew into Mobile Regional Airport, it is a short drive north, 38 miles away. We were able to grocery shop at Walmart Supercenter a mile from the airport, or Greer's at Bayley's Corners on the way to the island from the airport. 1st day cycling trip, we rode to Bayou la Batre, featured in "Forest Gump". Good day trip was ferry ride to Ft. Morgan across historic Mobile Bay. We took our bikes and notched a 50 mile ride from Ft. Morgan to Gulf Shores and Orange Beach. Another day we took the Jeep and toured the beaches, then had lunch in Fairhope, and then continued home across the north end of the bay and back home to Dauphin Island. Episcopal, Roman Catholic, Methodist, & Baptist Churches all located in town near the "WORLD FAMOUS" Lighthouse Bakery with their incomparable cinnamon buns and fresh coffee that were perfect after cycling, and beach walks/runs. The "Salty Dog" is highly recommended. The Landlord was gracious & timely, accessible by text for questions.
