My husband and myself had a great weeks stay in Casa da Cuqueira 'Eira' apartment. Very nicely decorated with all facilities including a fully fitted kitchen, terrace and just next to the pool. Jorge, the owner, is a gentleman and provides plenty of information about the area. The nearest town is within walking distance and quiet (except for the last night which was fiesta night). Pleasant traditional restaurants. Driving distance to the Geres national park which has spectacular scenery and walks. Go to the top where you have to pay a small fee and after about 1km take a side track off to the left which is part of the original roman road - roman milestones etc. Travel the side roads and see small traditional working villages. Braga is the nearest city/town which has some architechtural gems. If you go to Viano do Castelo make sure you go to the Gil Eannes hospital ship berthed on the quays - beautifully restored piece of fishing history. The city itself is a great place to explore.
