If you are traveling to the Ottawa area, why stay any place else? In fact, we were so comfortable with our fireplace, games and all the space, we never made it to Ottawa. Welcomed by Tom with keys, a roaring fire, and area information, we enjoyed the first snowfall and walked along the old Chelsea train track. The kids came back and played in the yard, while I sat in a rocking chair by the window and watched. Someone had mentioned in a review that the bathroom was in bad shape. If the purpose of your stay is to lounge in the tub, no this would not be the place for you. But it in NO WAY detracted from our wonderful weekend. So glad we stayed here!

  • Paradise so close to the city...

We had a great time. We were less that 45 minutes away from Ottawa with Friday evening rush hour. When we first arrived we were disjointed about how close the cottage was to the highway. Cars around there drive very fast and there was a lot of traffic noise...however...once past the front door and into the cottage all that disappeared. The cottage was small and quaint with a huge deck overlooking Lac McGregor. It is built on a hill that goes down towards the lake. This blocks a lot of the traffic noise from above. There are more decks down at water level and the views from there over the lake are breathtaking. We did not use any of the amenities that are by the lower docks because it was late in the year for boating or a swim. This is definately a place where you chill and relax and let the city stuff go...The main bedroom bed was a king size and comfortable. Bathroom small but functional. The lower floor which on its own is very nice is a little difficult to get down to due to a spiral staircase. OK for us but would be difficult for young ones and older ones. Overall we would highly recommend this little treasure so close to our city stress. We will be coming back...
