My family wanted a place we could spend some long overdue time together. We had that opportunity when my daughter, her fiancée and my sister (students/staff, all attending different colleges) all had overlapping spring break in March 2019. It was a rare opportunity so we were so grateful when we were accepted to rent this property. My sincere Thank You to the owners for giving us this opportunity.
The pictures in the VSBO (what I used) app are true. We had great views of the Great Smokies and the lake/reservoir from the second and third floor bedrooms.
The kitchen was well stocked with pots, pans, and spices. Bring what is special to your kitchen, but salt, pepper, garlic salt, pan spray, olive oil , etc. was there while we were in residence. The owners are clear that, due to well water, there can be a sulfur smell. We did experience that in the first 24ish hours, but it dimished after the first day, and we never smelled it again during our 8 day visit. We are primarily big city/suburb people, and this was a non- issue. So if you see it in the communication from the owners, or in the property “guide book”, our experience was great.
Food City in Sevierville is about a 15 minute drive. It has fresh veggies, meats etc. We initially went to the Food City in Dandridge, but Sevierville is actually closer. Both stores have a great selection of produce and meats from my experience there. The staff at both were super friendly!! Again, grateful for such nice people. Pick up some charcoal there as well to grill. The property has a charcoal grill and a great outdoor table for enjoying eating outdoors!
Dollywood was 30ish minutes from this property. It was closed while we where there, so I can’t speak to it, but super easy to get to if that is on your agenda while in the area. As for things to do: there is a petting zoo with goats, camels, kangaroos, horses, and many other animals. I, personally, loved the goats, but the farm has many options. I worry about “zoos” but there is land that these animals graze and walk in. Go to Ripleys Aquarium in Gatlinburg. It is AMAZING. Be sure to go through the lagoon, it surrounds you on three sides. I’ll stop there to avoid spoilers, but it’s so worth it. GSMNP - Great Smokey Mountain National Park, about 45 minutes (but so easy to get to) was fabulous. Easy flat trails or more complicated options for the more advanced hikers. Our dog loved it!
Cades Cove is really spectacular. PLAN it, but GO !
We stayed here for my birthday getaway. The views are amazing. Walking into the cabin, you immediately smell the cedar. The cabin is inviting and cozy, and the handmade details in the cabin make it very special. Gatlinburg and the national park are not far away, and if you’re looking for a quiet place to stay that is away from the hustle and bustle, this is it! The hosts were also very friendly. We had an amazing experience!
