We can't say enough about our bed and breakfast stay at the Red Sunset in Guanacaste, Costa Rica. Our host, Patrick is truly a professional superlative! His kindness and attention to detail were outstanding. One of our party, had a separate transport to his home at night and due to bad weather, a bridge out and ruddy roads due to rain, the drive took much longer than expected. Twice, during the ride, he called the driver to make sure his clients were ok and to check on their arrival time. Finally, when they arrived, he was there to greet them with the most genuine sense of relief. He always goes above and beyond. Will help with any reservations you need. Greets you each morning to see if you need anything. Highly recommend. With a house that could accommodate .... people (6 bedrooms, each with an ensuite bathroom) there was plenty of room. Linens and towels were washed daily. Due to the dampness of the area, there were even shoe warmers. The food at the house was amazing. Breakfast each morning (for 13 of us) always included 1-2 hot dishes, fresh fruit, bread, some type of protein, juice and/or smoothies, and coffee. Likewise, the dinners, prepared by Patrick and his wife, were a culinary delight! Finally, the views were second to none. From the veranda, there was a view of Lake Arenal and if lucky, the volcano Arenal. Days were filled with relaxation and adventures such as ziplining, hiking (out his back door, Into the rainforest with a guide), canyoning in waterfalls were only a drive away into the town of Fortuna. Overall, the stay at Patrick's was excellent and would recommend it if you want a place to stay that has views and easy to get to the Arenal adventures. It is worth the trip!

  • Absolutely stunning!

When we walked in the door of our suite, we all (9 and 6 year old children included) whispered “wow”. The large condo was beautiful and location was PERFECT! Playa Pelada is a wonderful place to watch the sunset and sip on a cocktail after a long day surfing/boogie boarding at Playa Guiones. Be sure to make a reservation at “La Luna” for dinner during or just after the sunset. 👌🏼 The pool was a great way to take a break from the mid day heat/sun. We would stay here again FOR SURE! As a bonus - Hans (the caretaker) was VERY pleasant and great with the kids! Cheers!
