Anyone who has stayed at the Hollywood Beach Resort knows what to expect. I am used to it from having been there several times before and I'm okay with it. But if you haven't been there understand that its appeal is strictly its great location right on the beach combined with a good price. If you need a pristine environment to enjoy yourself, it is NOT the place for you.
That said, I found Steve and Rada's room to be great for my purposes. I did a little rearranging so the futon faced the TV, which was perfect for watching (and I eventually replaced all as it was, of course). The bed is large and very comfortable. The shower and hot water were plentiful. The gas was not on when I got there, but there was a 2-burner hotplate and a microwave, which sufficed until the gas was back on. Steve and Rada did what they could to get it fixed. There was plenty of drawer storage (I was by myself): a large 6-drawer dresser, two end tables, and a large entryway closet (as in all of the rooms). Also, the room is on the third floor, which made getting in and out easy when the elevators weren't working.
Basically, the only issues were with the hotel, not with the room. It's a good deal for those looking for an inexpensive way to have a longer stay right on the beach.
The room was great. The owner tries his best to take care of things... The hotel is on the downside. If you just need a place to lay your head, its perfect. If you want to hang out in the hotel all day... probably not for you. The view is great. Spring breakers came to the hotel and security heightened up. They was a group that was somewhat destructive, however I do believe staff doubled up on security and got it under control. They also did not allow them in pool area which was nice so families could enjoy themselves. The boardwalk is wonderful. The restaurants are plentiful and many unexpected surprises. Loved our mini-vacation.
