Often visit the azores but our first time to Faial. This spot was very tidy, well organized
and close to town. The owners kept in touch so that our arrival was seamless. It is close to town and the ferry to Pico.It is good value for the quality of the unit.
It would be difficult for me to write this review and truly do justice to both the property and its manager, Zelda. From the very moment shortly after booking, Zelda has been an invaluable wealth of information to help us prepare for our stay, and went above and beyond any "host" I've ever encountered in my many years of booking vacation properties through the VRBO/HomeAway "family." She is a remarkable find and now a new friend.
The property itself is perfect for two individuals or two couples. Both bedrooms are roomy enough to accommodate two people each, one being particularly spacious with a double bed and the other comfortable with two twin beds. Every room features breathtaking views of the island of Faial and also nearby Pico; each morning I enjoyed my breakfast and coffee on that adorable patio table, watching the sun rise around Pico's mountain.
The apartment features WiFi strong enough that we were able to frequently chat back with family in the states with no problem, and to search various sites through Google to help us plan our days and even make local calls. The living room is spacious enough to relax in, but the kitchen is particularly remarkable in its size and modern technology. There are plenty of outlets available for charging tablets, computers, and phones simultaneously (a rarity in many rentals, I find.)
Multiple coffee makers, frying pans, pots, utensils, and dinnerware made the opportunity to cook at home at any time a breeze. The gas stove was particularly impressive to someone like me who enjoys home-cooked cuisine, and we even used the washing machine to give our clothes a quick but thorough one-hour wash. (Note that there is no dryer, but the patio dries most clothes in less than a day in full sunlight.) A market is just a few blocks away for all of your food, pantry, toiletry, and washing supplies.
A noteworthy caution (only to make this review as genuine as possible) might be the three flights of stairs to get up to the apartment, for those not comfortable with stairs, but the floor level of the apartment is also what gives it such spectacular views. I'm at a loss to come up with another drawback... this place is really just about perfect as it can get for a two-bedroom option in Horta, and the price is more than fair.
Also noteworthy is that I received notice of my deposit refund immediately—while we were still in flight back to the United States.
Book it. Just book it. :)
