One of our best holidays! Have been all over the world, a few times in the Toscana over the past years. This house and ground looks identical as on the pictures. The owner family is so friendly and warmhearted. We enjoyed the fantastic pool and the view is outstanding! And so much too see and visit just surrounding.
When my wife and son and I arrived at Villa S. Ippolito we knew we had made the right choice of a location to celebrate my 80th birthday with my family. The villa was what I imagined to be the perfect Tuscan villa. It was old, it was stone and it sat in one of the most beautiful settings in all of Tuscany. From the grounds, particularly, the outdoor dining and pool areas, you look across the wooded valleys and forest to the mountains. Just absorbing the view, especially the sun set in late afternoon, brings a joy of appreciation of nature which occurs as the birds of all types are making delightful sounds to remind you of the peacefulnessthef site. has.
The interiors were a reflection of the outside. We loved the decorative tile floors and the thick walls and beautiful and functional windows. The furnishings reflected the space and the years which they had served family and quests and yet made people within the space feel at home and appreciative of the history of the villa. A particular marvel was the kitchen which my wife fell in love with at first sight and my son, a chief, applauded upon his entry. It was large and full of interesting shelving and cabinets and marble topped tables and an a beautiful original sink with fixtures. The kitchen had everything anyone would need to cook and serve food and beverage.
The villa is very large with space for all kinds of activities. There are three sitting areas on the main floor with a large dinning area which seats more than 20 people. Our choice of dining was outside at a large table in the back garden area with was perfect for dining in the morning and evenings. During the afternoon we would have our antipasti on the large table under a shading tree out by the pool with the vistas of forest and mountains. We would go to the house garden for the pasta and meat courses.
We booked two local Tuscan women to prepare two meals during our two week stay. They were recommended by Clemente and the were fabulous cooks. They came to the villa about 4:00 p.m. and prepared the food on site. They did all the marketing and bought local wine. We gave them permission to cook whatever they felt was a sample of great Tuscan food. The met the criteria both nights. There were four of five antipasti and two pasta dishes and two meat dishes as well as desert and wine. Dinner was ready to be served at 8:00 p.m. There was so much food we had a "Leftovers" meal the next night after both times they came.
As for sleeping the 9 bedrooms were perfect for our family, All bedrooms are upstairs which you get to up a wonderful staircase. The upstairs sitting room has painted walls and ceiling while three of the guest rooms have painted ceilings. All are beautiful and re-enforces the villa's appeal.
Needless to say we found Villa S. Ippolito a wonderful place to be in Tuscany. It is now part of our family gathering and part of our fond memories of Tuscany. I strongly recommend the Villa to all who seek this kind of family experience.
