Overall we enjoyed the Ocean House and had a great vacation, but as with most houses it had it's pros and cons.
The house was advertised as having air-conditioning in all the bedrooms, but the air-conditioning wasn't working in one of the upstairs bedrooms.
The house cleaning and upkeep could have been better. Many of the windows weren't cleaned well--the house is right on the beach with the salt spray, but some of the windows weren't cleaned well to begin with.
Some of the bathroom mirrors looked like they hadn't been cleaned from the previous guests. The master shower had black mold in the grout.
There were obviously dirty dishes and cutting boards put away in the cabinets. We started out with a dirty sponge to use to wash the dishes.
The spa heating, tv, and wifi weren't working well for our stay.
There were tiny ants all over the kitchen and bathrooms.
The back lawn was completely brown and crunchy.
Now to end with the Pros:
The house is in a great location on Kailua beach, it's in an uncrowded stretch of beach.
The whole oceanside of the house is windows (which is why it's important for them to be cleaned), so you have a beautiful view of the beach and the ocean.
The house is airconditioned (except for one bedroom during our stay.
The house is laid out well, very open, airy, and spacious. The bedrooms all have their own bathroom. There's lots of comfortable seating in the living and dining areas.
There was an ample amount of linens, towels, and beach towels provided. Bogey boards and beach chairs were also available for our use.
We have rented a house in Hawaii every year for over 20 years, renting from many different sources. Hawaiian Villa rentals is a good, honest company to work with. Jen Rhynes assisted us while we were in Kailua, and she was such a pleasant person to work with.
Well appointed and furnished house on the more private stretch of the beach twenty houses down from Obama White House compound. Manicured lawn leading to beach. Warm sparkling pool in back, air conditioning throughout. Neighbors hidden in both sides. Master bedroom upstairs and three down.
