We enjoyed our week-long stay in this very spacious beach house. As mentioned, one definitely needs a vehicle with very high-clearance for the driveway. You enter the property through a private gate with a padlock that is not exactly easy to manipulate, at first, particularly at night in the dark. So keep this in mind when timing your excursions.
The house is very well-supplied, both in terms of beach items and kitchen items. It was nice to be able to stay in, cook meals there, and just go to the beach right outside your door every day. Once you get your groceries, no need to leave the property all week! There is a charcoal BBQ grill but the outside light had a short in it during our stay so we had to have one person stand with a flashlight (they were provided) while using the grill. But it worked! The only other thing which would have been nice for the lawn and beach is a couple of those multi-position loungers. There were plastic lawn chairs, and the low-sitting beach chairs provided during our stay. I’m sure this sort of thing changes as items break and are replaced. The sunsets over the ocean were magnificent every single night, regardless of your seating receptacle!
The wifi worked very well and there are plenty of electrical outlets. It was very nice that there was no TV; made for a quiet, peaceful week. One thing that would be good for couples is a sofa or loveseat. Right now, there is no place where people can sit side-by-side.
As the property manager explains, it’s “Wild Hawaii”: we had a few bugs inside but only one was of the biting/stinging type. But, yes, wear your slippers to be safe. We did have mosquitoes on a couple of nights so recommend you bring coils and repellent.
The beds and pillows were of great quality. There is no a/c but there are plenty of fans and lots of nice air from the ocean. While the air felt breezy and cool most of the time, we were perplexed as to why we were sweating every night in bed. We eventually discovered that both the pillows and mattresses had plastic-coated covers. I do understand the rationale of the property owners but it sure made for very uncomfortable sleeping. That being said, the sound of the ocean waves was extremely soothing. If you are a very light sleeper, the gecko sounds and wild pigs outside in the brush could be an issue for you but was not for us.
It’s a very clean house . Trash was to be taken to nearby landfill station. We would stay again.
The house has a stunning view and outdoor area with all the gadgets and things you might need for a beautiful week in Hawaii. My only recommendation would be that the property needs a bit of updating, I am not a fan of all the wood paneling, and the carpet in the bedroom areas are worn and covered up with runners. The shower curtain needed to be replaced or washed as there was dirt/mold on bottom, things that can be taken care of easily, by housekeeping or owner. All the rooms were furnished with very large, dark wood furnishing, causing it to feel a bit dark with all the dark wall paneling as well. The kitchen was very well stocked, more than enough of everything, no matter what you wanted to cook with or eat on.
