The cottage was perfect for our needs (3 adults). Check in was extremely easy - cottage was unlocked and the keys waiting for us inside. The owners live right behind the cottage and left it up to us to meet them/ask questions. We did go to meet them and they are wonderful people!
Since the cottage is in the woods you really should bring bug spray. The clearing by the cottage had a nice breeze while we were there, but whenever we went down to the water the mosquitoes followed us.
Also, beware the gravel/sand drive (Conary) from 176 down to the cottage. Fortunately, it's not far, but if you do not have an SUV or truck DRIVE SLOWLY!
We found this place to be in the perfect spot for exploring - we went to Bangor to see the Duck of Justice, went to Bucksport for lunch & ice cream and to Acadia, of course (gorgeous!). We also explored the Blue Hill peninsula and found some wonderful shops/potteries without a ton of tourists everywhere. We highly recommend Rackliffe Pottery and the shops in Blue Hill.
The place was perfect for our girls' weekend. Music and Wine, seating was limited in the "family" room so we hung out in the kitchen; closer to the food and beverages (so a plus). No TV, spotty internet, depends on how you think about it, could be good or bad. The kitchen is well equipped but the pantry has salt and pepper. No hairdryer. Awesome rocking chair on the front porch; buy bug spray. The road is busy during the day but I live in the suburbs of a major city so...not bad from my point of view. You can catch the bus from the bottom of the driveway, don't be shy they'll stop for you. Acadia National Park is so beautiful, enjoy :)) Host is very attentive to you.
