I was initially hesitant when I saw all of the 5 star reviews. But I am a believer in this property. My wife and I have visited Maine two other times, both in the lower parts of Maine, and wanted to show friends what Maine was all about. So we decided to stay in Jonesport which is as far north in Maine as we could go and still reach destinations like Bar Harbor.
The property was as advertised and Mary was a great hostess. The property was flawless and provided everything we could have asked for and more. Well stocked with everything we needed to cook lobster each and every night! The weather was picture perfect so we had plenty of opportunity to lounge and visit with our friends. The views were amazing and the tidal range this far north was massive and fun to watch.
We had a day trip to Canada and it was only 1 1/2 hours away. Bucket list item complete. Lobsters found at Beal Island were as cheap and wonderful as we could have asked for. We went to Barney's Cove for our lobster and fell in love with Garrett and his Uncle who made our multiple visits informative and fun! We ate lobster for 6 days!!
Stay here out of the way of the hustle and bustle of the tourist traps. The locals are friendly and welcome visitors. On many occasions we were thanked for staying so far north in Maine. The only downside was that we did not have an opportunity to see the neighbor's Mastif during our stay...maybe next time!!
