The place was very clean with a nice view of the ocean down the hill about a mile away. The property has a swimming pool, hot tub, and laundry facilities. I would recommend this property to anyone. Thank you, Lee!!

Like many reviews have noted, Janie Jo is the ultimate VRBO host. The condo is clean and well supplied, with Janie Jo paying attention to all of the small details that leave lasting impressions. She made sure we were checked in and comfortable, plus provides us with lots of suggestions for things to explore. This was our first time on the west side, but it won’t be our last. We have stayed on the North Shore, which is great but quite a distance from Honolulu. The Makaha Plantation is well situated north of Honolulu and has quick access to great beaches but is less than 50 min from the big city. The west side has a lot of local flare with food trucks and awesome eateries like Spinners. The community was welcoming and the scenery was beautiful. The beaches range from rocky tidal pools to super protected sandy getaways. We were able to snorkel, boogie board, and overall enjoy a variety of beaches within a few minutes of the plantation. We also loved the pool area where our kids spent lots of time and we BBQed. The beach supplies are well appointed and made for comfortable day trips. The plantation is well secured and the staff are very nice. The grounds are well manicured with a dozen or so peacocks roaming about. They are quite interesting birds. Between beach time and exploring, we would venture into the city to do tourist stuff (check out the outlets and malls, visit the sites, etc). Staying at the plantation provides the full range of options from quiet beach or pool relaxation to immersing yourself in what nearby Honolulu has to offer. Some reviewers have noted the homeless people near some of the west side beaches. They are definitely around and clearly becoming more common in Oahu in general. During our trip we never were concerned about homeless folks or felt scared, so please don’t let this deter you from the west side. Janie Jo’s place is well cared for, has all the amenities you need, and we will definitely be back again. She is very accommodating and allowed us a later check out based on a late departure flight on a holiday. You simply can’t beat this host and the plantation for an Oahu getaway. Thanks Janie Jo!
