Bayview Grand. Pretty grounds. Safe area. Friendly people. Nice pools. Beach not that great in most of Puerto Vallarta but people were enjoying the warm water. Easy to take bus (50 cents US money) or taxi ($4) to the center of town (5 miles). Malls and Walmart next to each other. 2 miles from airport but taxi cost $17 US due to union taxis. Heard if you leave the airport property, taxis are cheaper but after traveling all day, it was worth the $17. Rented a 1 bedroom at Bayview Grand that was clean and comfortable. When renting a private condo, there is no front desk to call for a problem. Had breakfast and lunch in our condo after taking the bus to town and shopping at Walmart. Took a taxi home. Walked to the Marina most evenings to share a Mexican meal for $15-20 total. Chips and salsa always served before dinner. Drank tap water after throughout our stay. No issues. Carefully Check out the crocodiles in the marina between 9-11 am.
Our unit was very comfortable and nicely appointed. It is right at the end of the complex which made it much quieter and more desirable than some in the complex. The pool is lovely but the water is quite cold and good for only the Intrepid. The nearby restaurants and shops were really excellent and we enjoyed breakfast at Mr. cream and the restaurant right outside our gate. We also enjoyed Porto Bello restaurant and 4lasporia. PVChan in the lighthouse tower had very good Asian food and great views overseeing the marina.
The Centro bus stops right in front of the lobby and takes you into the downtown area for only 10 pesos. Try for one of the newer air condition buses if you can. One of the great restaurants in town is Hacienda San Angel Gourmet which is up the hill from the beach with a magnificent view of the sunset. However, be aware of the cost which is well in excess of anything you’ll find that most restaurants here. We were able to find really good food for two with several drinks for less than $60 before tip at the Marina and downtown. We spent $175 at the Hacienda which was well worth it. Taxi cabs here are very cheap, about 140 pesos from the downtown area to our condominium. The market fair here at the marina on Thursday night is also well worth attending. All in all, a very pleasant stay in condo number 4214.
